Linda, Thanks. I am so excited. . . 3 days and 11 hours and 33 minutes. . .
I have been reading about the history of my children, the Graham clan, they were also feared by all who crossed the borders. So maybe the Scots have the reputation that you need not try to terrorize them as they will give you a fight back.

Well Troth/Teri, how many hours are you counting down now until your trip to Scotland?

Have been doing some GoodSearchs, I already know the information.....but it gives us some more cash for IWS!!!! ......If you are starting out in Edinburgh...must sees are....The Castle/ Princess Street (Shops) and the Scott Monument.

If you can, also stop off on your way to the Isle of Skye, and drop into Stirling and see their Castle.
Then in Skye you may want to visit Dunvegan Castle, which is the oldest inhabited castle I believe.

The one thing about Scotland.....it has a lot of History.....The scenery is not bad either! :D

You and your friend will have a wonderful trip.

My dad always told me that the reason the Scots led the army into battle was because in their Highland Dress (Kilt etc) and playing the Bagpipes they scared the beegeebees out of the enemy!

Where my Grand-mother lived in Renfrew, the Pipers used to practice every week and as an English girl I can't say I appreciated them.....they sound awful when they are starting up and trying to get the wind into the bag! But I must say too, that to see the Mass Bands of Scottish Pipers and Drummers, especially at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo (I think it's held in August) is really a wonderful experience.

And are you doing backups? If you'd die without those files, I command you to back them up today because tonight might be too late. Seriously Harpo, get that done by tomorrow..

Oh and another thing to watch for Teri......Golden Eagles.

There are not so many of them now......they are trying to reintroduce them, like the Bald Eagles are being reintroduced to California........because, as I think we have discussed this earlier in the forum, the farmers/ landowners put down poison to stop them getting the sheep and pheasants.

Well done Patti.......go for the 4. (Quad).

Hey you are getting good at this Patti......

G'day everyone! Firstly, I want to again thank those for their IWS contribution in Larry's name: Ojailala for starting this, Sister Karen, Nancy, Peppermint
Patti/CarolAnn and Hulabird, Patti (Camarillo) and Lana.
I also made a donation and made a Comment that the donation (and others) was in memory of Larry, Dr Sharpe responded by sending me a very nice condolences email:

Dear Kathyrn,

I just wanted to say I'm sorry to hear about the loss of Larry. I know how hard it is to have to put a dog to sleep. It sounds like he had a good life. Once again, my condolences.

Peter Sharpe, Ph.D.
Institute for Wildlife Studies
P.O. Box 2500
Avalon, CA 90704
310-510-2728

As like everyone on this forum, thoughtfulness is inherent. I will be adding another write up about Larry in the Videos/Media thread.

HB, thanks for the eagle story link, I'm sceptical of the 100m/p/h claim too... geez wouldnt they be flattened at the end of the dive!? Patti, love your Cruz ghost!

I will be lurking today, have lots of work on....

Hugs to everyone again. KLJinOz

Dr Sharpe is so thoughtful (but we always knew that). Thanks for sharing his condolence note.

On a positive note, we might just get that 8th nest in Larry's name. Can we name one of our birds or the nests Larry in tribute?

Hulabird, that is so thoughtful. I'm not sure if that is fair tho, there are a lot of us here on the forum that have lost a loved animal, wouldnt be fair to single Larry out....
I think a better name would be 'Peter'!!!!

OMG Ozzie, you're onto something there. I don't think I've ever uttered that name except once when I had experienced the ultimate in inner peace. (Sorry Dr Sharpe) but oh hell yeah, is our bird next season going to be named "Peter" or what????:? Darrell, come in Darrell, we need a poll.

OK, here's who's here right now. Hulabird, kljinusa, Cumbrian, ostrich2, Teddy_Neal, KLJinOz, MaMiMoBa Mom, Bird. I've been sitting here all day by myself and Ozzie just came up with the idea of the century. Can we get a roll call going on?

(PS where the heck was everybody today anyway?)

And since we have so many nests under our belt right now, maybe one of them should be named Steve.

Helllll-oooo-oo-o, am I the only one without a life? I miss you, where's the party? (that I've obviously not been invited to  )

If I had been a boy, my name was to be Peter---but they got Patricia instead of Peter. Guess I'm glad they didn't name me Petunia, which is one vowel closer to Peter.
