As I was uploading the captures from the West End nest at photobucket, there was a visitor at our nest........3:58PM until 4:00PM ![]() It flew from the right onto the E brach with something in it's beak........then flew to the righthand p/c branch. Then hopped over to behind the left p/c branch before coming up top and eating whatever it had....dropped some too....Turned around a couple of times on that branch ![]() Finally flies off. Could it be a Raven? Or just a large Crow? |

Teri - have a fabulous holiday. Patti - love the eagle eggs - you are too much! Cumbrian - Great photos as usual. Haven't been posting much lately as I just got my new computer yesterday and have been busy with my techie installer who transfered all the data from my old computer and got me going. Hulabird - if you were here, I would have called you. All is working well even though I have to get used to a new operating system XP, as I had the old Windows ME. Hope the fires die down and no westnesters are in any danger. Wish you had the rain that we are having now. Can't wait for IWS update - Wednesdays are the best  |

Lala: have another drink!! 640 acres = 1 sq mi 1280 acres = 2 sq mi 1920 acres = 3 sq mi Therefore....a LOT of acres will be burned in 200 sq mi. Your figure of 200,000 sq miles is flawed/incorrect. Per the news, only 200+ sq miles have burned. Now doesn't this make sense? Think about it...how many miles away is Castaic from Ojai? |

Back from Hemet just in time to see 2 seconds of the West End Nest eagle before the camera went wacko. Can tell the eagle is still there if I stand on my head and squint my eyes. Just kidding (as if you didn't know?) It is difficult to see, but on certain flashes, you can get the vague image of an eagle. My Two Harbors nest has been stuck/frozen since last night and won't budge no matter what I do to it. To make matters worse, I think I'm beginning to halucinate.![]() There's no halucinating on the West End nest. After the camera cleared up, I could see the eagle......and caught a 2nd one flying in! ![]() They're gone now, but I'm glad I made it back in time to see them! Just peaked below as I got ready to post this and discovered Cumbrian's great captures! It'll sure be nice when they get all the cameras changed and/or fixed! |

Troth/Teri If you friend's birthday is while you are in Edinburgh, there are LOTS of pubs in which to celebrate. Rose Street, which runs parallel to Princes Street - one block north, has lots of great pubs. We used to start at one end of Rose Street and see how far we could go!!! I probably would have to stagger out of the first one now and go home. Enjoy. |

Keep us thinking Patti. On the Bald Eagle diving speed. I was reading multiple accounts from the old days when Bald Eagles were everywhere that they would harass other eagles, hawks, and osprey until they dropped their prey. The Bald Eagle would then dive and catch it before it hit the ground. That must be a little like a truck going down a steep hill. Maybe not 200 miles per hour but swift never-the-less. |

Thanks, Cumbrian and ED, for the captures! When we get sound, we'll know the difference between a crow and raven. One caws and the other "gronks" or something like that. I think my 2Harbors nest cam is frozen? Also couldn't seem to find any live action on my WE nest today. I don't know if this is my computer or what? No number move, so they must be stuck. ED, I was thinking the SAME THING about that 2H lump you've drawn attention to. I compared the IWS fixed photo to the supposed live cam. Well, no numbers move above my web cams, so they have to be frozen. I get a kick out of the your graphics & think at least there's somebody else trying to figure out what going on other than myself. My SCruz screen is good. I had almost forgotten that it's UPDATE DAY!!!! My favorite day of the week. Carole, I have Windows XP, too. I have found that my Outlook Express email address downloads so much faster than my MSN email address. I have no idea why? I'm starting to keep my important folders on my Outlook Express side. Back to chores. Have fun--whomever is here! |
