Caught a few surprise photos of WE nest eagle, then could not refresh screen. Sorry, keep pasting them in reverse order & cannot get these side by side--keep chopping part of next link off. ![]() ![]()

Patti and Jann....great shots again. Not the easiest camera to take captures from. Patti, I always upload my photos into Photobucket in reverse order and select them that way too and most times the codes are then in the first to last order when you post them. Go Figure! ![]() Also you may be able to retype in the code if it gets erased during the post. |

hulabird is always complaining about us when we are missing in action...where the heck is she??? Cumbrian...what a wonderful array of objects as well as fruit and veggies for the farmers market. I keep telling myself that I should go to the local ones here but I just keep forgetting. Sad....and we have such great ones too. |

Patti: I will contact our local political reps asap to let them know how horrible I think this Santa Rosa hunting issue is. If nothing else, maybe the continuing outcry will lead to some future action. I don't know what is the cause of the current fires in Santa Clarita. Seems like a regular occurrence here, with past fires caused by everything from a hawk on a power line (poor thing!) to a disabled car that caught fire on the side of the freeway. EagleDuo, I am SO in agreement regarding the idiots who throw lit cigarette butts out their car windows. I see this happen every day, several times a day  My boss confessed to me that she was fined $500 for doing this a few years ago and it led her to quit smoking, but it's obvious that not enough people are caught and fined. I'd love to have a system in place where we can call a number and report a vehicle in which we've just witnessed an occupant toss out a lit butt, even if the only repercussion is a letter of warning that their idiot actions were seen by others. We have 1-800-CUT-SMOG here in LA to report vehicles with excessive tailpipe smoke, and I use that regularly. Why not have a similar call-in system for these anonymous pyros? So there's my little soapbox stand for today.... |

Lana I just can't agree more. That is why I am trying to eradicate the world of cigarette smoking! I think your idea is a good one too. I use that phone number a lot as well. I used to see a lot more violators than I do now. It must be working so why not the cig butts? Seems like that would work. I don't even know what these fires cost. I understand there were more than 5K firefighters here on the Day fire. That's a lot of man power. And even more $ with all the helicopters, DC10's etc etc. Sure would be cheaper to man a phone line! That is certainly one of my pet peeves. Teddy Neal. She never naps!!! Don't know what to think....wake up Hulabird!!!! We miss you

I've often wished we could do the same thing, but the difference between reporting cars with bad exhaust and people throwing cigarettes out a car window is in the ability to prove it. It's easy to check and prove if there's an exhaust problem through license plate numbers. The registered owner is held responsible. Case closed.....easy. However, when it comes to reporting a person throwing a lit cigarette out the window, how could you prove it? Even if you managed to see the actual person who did it, it would be a 'he said/she said' standoff. The only way they get caught is if a police officer or sheriff witnesses it themself. Unfortunately, they can't be everywhere all the time.

Whenever I see somebody do that, I take down their license plate and call 911 and report them. We are subject to brush fires here too and those people are just plain arsonist wanna-bes. |

Hi there everybody, in my neverending quest to make it look like I've done sometthing besides sit in my nest all day, I took a huge stab at cleaning the garage (another sale tomorrow). I'll be sending my 10% tithe to IWS so wish me luck on getting rid of the bedroom set. My only (big ticket item). Also, I did take a snooze while working on Sandie's computer remotely. And I repotted some plants. Hubby was so happy about the garage he's feeding ALL the kids tonight. Woooohoooo. Hulabird is permanently in the nest tonight! Teddy Neal? What are you doing catching me taking a nap? Peeping Teddy

I've been out of the loop the last two days.. watched Sasha and Summer today, Summer being 4 months old and the last time I watched her she went home with cat scratches on her little bald head.. "Scout, the kitten" So this time I stayed on duty the whole time which left little time for all of you guys... I missed all the fun snake talk yesterday and loved seeing the pictures from Oz.. I caught two snakes this summer, a gopher snake and a king snake... both very good at catching and killing rattlesnakes... Patti, thank you for trying to clear my name by suggesting that I read those figures wrong.. To think that I could rationalize 200,000 acres burning (that would be about a tenth of the state or something) causes me to pause and reflect on my mental well being. By the way, one of the gopher snakes was wrapped around my left hand and there was nobody home to take his (my) picture so I took the picture myself with my right hand... I might try and send that one to you'all tomorrow, but you know my track record at sending photos.. Wish me luck! |

g'day everyone. My Saturday, spent at a desk writing a 3000 word essay on Corporations law This is my last uni class to graduate, gotta pass, its been a long haul, 6 years of of studying, minimum social life, garden and house crying out for attention... and family (but they do come first). If I was in CA, and had the time, I would start a petition, get every California I know to sign it and send it to the Fed rep. KLJinUSA will be VERY upset to read about hunting on Santa Rosa Isl..... ER, your pic of your grand-daughter is just delightful as is ED's littlie. I just love children. We are having spring burn-offs in our area today, but the smoke is blowing the other way. Burnoffs are controversial, but I'd rather have less fuel for the fire and the Aust bush is adapted to that, in fact some plants dont germinate until they actually have been burnt, those are mostly non-coastal bush areas tho. KLJinUSA is away, but I'll let her tell y'all what shes up to. Lurking for the rest of the evening. |

OK, I propose a toast of inner peace... In honor of our A49 Cruz making the flight to Santa Rosa... ...and KLJinOz finishing a big essay, and Hulabird being back in the nest, and all of the other forum members' celebrations of home sales, vacations, feeling better, avoiding fires and wicked storms, and everything else: I raise a toast!
