Hi folks!
I know it's late and I see only a few of you are around, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Nothing to do with eagles, rather it's a question about rewarding human goodness.
I lost my wallet on the way home from work Thursday night. I realized where I'd left it about 30 minutes later but when I called the store, the manager said it was nowhere to be found. I immediately cancelled my credit cards and ATM. I carry my cash separately but was still upset losing everything else (driver's license, insurance card, etc), not to mention the wallet itself, which was very unique!
I didn't go back to my office until late this afternoon and discovered I had a voicemail left by a gentleman who found my wallet shortly after I left the store. I never thought to check my work's voicemail but he found my business card in the wallet and that was the only number to call.
I am going to meet him tomorrow so he can return the wallet to me.
My question is: I'd like to give him a cash reward; what sounds like a decent amount? I was thinking around $100.00?
I am just so happy that there are still good humans left on this earth. I've had my wallet stolen twice in my life and both times the cretins immediately went on a spending spree. I want to reward this man's kindness. Is $100 enough?
What do you think?

Woweeeeee a visitor to our nest! Thanks to everyone for those beautiful captures. I hope the nesterations begin soon. I'm sure he/she was stopping by for a few measurements before taking off to home depot!

Lana I had the same experience with my wallet only it didn't show up for about a month. Got a call from the phone company since my number is unlisted. I don't keep many things in my wallet just ATM no credit cards. But anyhow I bought gift cards to Starbucks and one to Old Navy for the daughter who found my wallet. I was like you, I just couldn't believe that there were honest people out there. I met the guy and he was very nice but I was even more grateful. But of course this is after I purchased a new wallet, license, new state license for work which totaled almost $50+ anyhow think about gift cards as well. People like those things too.

Well, have to take one of my cats, Oreo to the vet tomorrow she suddenly appeared with facial swelling. I suspect a tooth. Let's keep our fingers crossed, as I'm still recovering from Lulu. She won't eat dry food only wet and seems a bit under the weather. I tell you if it's not one thing it's another.

Thanks again for the great photos and updates. You gotta love this group.
Have a good night.

I think that is very generous. You will find out if it was enough depending on how grateful he is. Most of us just enjoy returning things. We/ve all been there and done that when it comes to misplacing things. I wouldn't worry about the size of the reward!! It's how you feel about it. If you think the $100 is enough then it is! Go with your gut!! I'm so glad you got it back. My friend lost her keys in the sand and it was returned by Albertson's market from someone turning them in. It was over a month after she lost it. Be thankful you have it back!!

Just a quick late night hi to all who are still up, and to those in bed too. Another day of grinding packing and prepping for the final move on Saturday. And then I come to the forum and there is the most wonderful news, veiws and video of our nest visitor. I tell you it really lifted my tired spirits. A huge thanks to all who are so wonderfully tech gifted and can post the pix and videos, it is such a life saver for the computer challenged like me.

Nancy: I've got my fingers crossed that all goes well with Oreo kitty.

Lana: What a lucky break that some honest soul found your wallet. $100 sounds like a very generous reward, or the gift card idea is good too.

Well, it's time for bed so I'll sign off.

Good night dear friends, have a pleasant evening.

Wow....what a heartwarming story about your wallet! I think $100 is a very generous reward, if he'll take it. Might have a gift card as a backup?Tell us all about it tomorrow!

Thanks for the feedback on the reward money, everyone. I love being able to gather input from all of you! I am counting my blessings in more ways than one tonight. I'll let you know how it goes when I meet my hero tomorrow.

Nancy, I sure hope Oreo is okay. It does sound like a tooth problem. I'll be thinking of you and your kitty and sending good vibes your way!

Thanks to everyone for the wonderful photos and videos of the parent on our nest today! With this kind of talent, I know we are going to see some incredible footage next Spring!

And last but not least, a shout out to all the firefighters who succeeded in getting that nasty Day fire 100% contained this evening! HIP HIP HORRAY!!!

Lana, after having my wallet stolen, I felt so violated when they spent the entire night buying gas with all my cards. You have been given the gift of an honest soul finding your wallet and calling you. $100 might make the difference of his family eating this week or not. You never know. Its an appropriate reward and if he accepts it fine, But this is a good time to either tell him about the eagles or if he refuses the reward, you might want to consider donating it anyway. Karma will catch up to you when you need it the most.

And PS, I'm sure Dr Sharpe wouldn't mind if you took it down to your local fire station , handed it over and told them to have a PARTAY!!!!!!

I have a funny story about a wallet, mine was stolen out of my purse at work, a medical clinic. I was very young and it was a new job, some workman came in the office and asked for my assistance in the hallway... he said "put your hand on the wall and tell me if you feel any vibrations, I'll be right back....." hoohum....... I dont remember how long I was there... but the wallet was gone when I went back to my desk. I only had $5 and a credit card. The card was used at ToysRUs, maxed out. Fortunately I reported it straight away and was not held liable for the purchases. The cops thought I was the dumbest BLOND they'd ever met. Weeks later I saw the same guy out in the waiting room with his partner and kid. I checked who he was, turns out the kid was pretty sick. I asked the administrator if I should reveal his name to the credit card Co, Nope, it was a breach in patient confidentiality.
So I dont know whether karma was involved or not. It was a stupid, funny, sad story and I'll never forget it.

Hey Hey! I finished my first draft of my essay and having a LAWYER read it over for comments.... what a relief, the hard part (I hope) is done and I can play now (well almost, I have some other work to do).

On the down side (from finishing my essay), yesterday I hugged my Tiger cat and within an hour had THREE ticks boring into me. Despite being tinier than a head pin, my ear is beet red, swollen and itching.... it actually oozed some too, ugh. My neck got a bite, had to take my necklace off (it irritated it more) and one on the crown of my head, I got that one first and its not so bad..... with Spring here the tick season has begun and they just LOVE me. I wear tea tree oil to try to deter them..... nice perfume.

Nancy, hope your kitties are ok.
