ED: I love your Goodnight post! Those polar bears look deceptively cute and cuddly.

I wanted to share with everyone that I got my lost wallet back tonight from the kind man who found it. After meeting him, I sure wish I could offer more of a reward! He has four kids and a baby on the way. When I got to his house, a loan officer was with him and his elderly parents, whom he is helping to get a reverse mortgage on their home so they can pay their bills. He seemed to discreetly try to give me my wallet so I asked the other people there if he had mentioned having found my wallet. They had no idea!
I had decided to give him the $100 but I put it inside an envelope, along with a card thanking him for restoring my faith in the goodness of humankind. I just handed the envelope to him and told him how much I appreciated what he had done. He took it and said thank you several times but he didn't open the envelope while I was there. I'm glad of that. He seemed to be a very proud man who did not want to make a fuss over simply having done the right thing.
I also wrote in the card that I hope his good deeds come back to him 100-fold...and I do!

With all the ugliness and cruelty of humans that seems to bombard us daily on the news (and what a week this has been with those school shootings and a congressional pervert!), I find solace in the reminders that some people can still do the right thing, probably without a second thought.

Lana, that is a beautiful story. I'm am feeling a little teary eyed after reading it. Thank you for giving him a most generous reward, and I thank him for resoring MY faith in mankind (well, maybe a little). Mankind, with the exception of some individuals still suck IMO. Check your PM in a few minutes.

Just a late night hi and good night. Took a break from packing today and headed up to Long Beach to visit my folks. My dad broke his hand yesterday and it was so swollen and sore. Luckily, it was his left hand and he's right handed, but even so, he's quite under the weather with it right now.

This evening after I got back I made the rounds of the neighborhood with Bixby B to start saying goodby to the many friends (both two and four legged) we've made over the 12 years we've lived here.

ED, loved the polar bears, what a nice way to end the evening.

Lana, nice ending to the lost wallet.

I'm keeping good thoughts that the kitties will all be feeling better soon.

As always, thanks for the pix, stories, and updates.

Good night to all, have a pleasant evening.

Lana - What a heartwarming story about your wallet. I got teary-eyed too as I read it. You handled it so perfectly!

Bixby - Sorry to hear about your Dad. Did you tell him that if he didn't want to help you move, all he had to do was say so....he didn't have to break his hand? :P Seriously, I hope the pain eases up soon and it heals quickly. Don't envy you all your good-byes, but you're gonna love it up there! My friend had a house up in Running Springs til she moved last year. I actually cried when she sold it and moved. Good luck with your move this weekend and with Bixby traveling!

Nancy - Praying for Oreo and her surgery. Hope all goes well and she's home with you and up to her normal antics real soon!
