While surfing the web for different articles on DDT off the California coast, I came upon this photograph and caption and wondered if this was Cruz's nest from a different angle.

Jann - you are sure eagle-eyed to notice this picture. I think it is K-10.

It reminded me of some of the early pictures of Cruz and her family, though I don't remember seeing that rocky cliff in any of those pictures. Seeing the nest at this angle makes it all the more amazing to me that it was spotted by boat (as Dr. Sharpe told us in a previous answer). Talk about good eyes! :o
For first time nest builders, it certainly looks like a beautiful nest. It'll be fascinating to watch them repair it this winter!

Wow! What an amazing photo! Looks a lot scarier from this vantage point as far as our Cruz taking her first flight!

Good eye, Jann! The nest bowl looks so nice and soft and comfy then. What a proud Dad-to-be.

Thanks, Dr. Sharpe, for confirming that this is Cruz' nest. I was also wondering where this picture was taken from? The angle looks too high to have been taken from the boat when the nest was first discovered. Is this from the original camera?

Speaking of the boat, are there any pictures from the discovery of the nest that you can share with us? I know we'd all love to see them if possible.

With the out of focus branches that were very close to the camera, it appears to be taken from another tree. Maybe where the eagle cam is located. Notice how neat the edges are. This must be before our tweety pie spent weeks jumping up and down on the nest. Better send the Handybird to Nest Depot :D

This photo was taken from about 100 m farther up the ridge to the left of where the eagle cam was positioned. I don't think any photos were taken from the water when the birds were originally spotted.
