Good morning all. Well the rain has finally stopped and the sun is out, so up to the boat we go for the weekend. Will probably have the heat on all the time as it isn't supposed to go over 58. Lots of work waiting for me up there. I have to start packing up food, linens, clothes, etc. as the boat will probably be taken out of the water within the next 3 weeks. It's too short a season up here in Ontario, I envy all you nestcoasters who have great weather most of the year. Also, we are going to Montreal to visit my 94 year old mother in a week or so, so I had better get lots of work done this weekend. Anyway, forum buddies, have a great weekend, I'll miss all your news and pics until Monday night. |

Elaine Ruth, Are you getting any fallout from that hazardous waste plant explosion in Raleigh? |

good morning to everyone! it's overcast here in NY - supposed to get a little rain - of course the world here is revolving around yankess / mets - whatever! I agree Naturegal - about the ONLY benefit I can see of living more south is longer time to be OUT AND ABOUT I'll be heading out Sat to spend the holiday weekend at my brother's in Virginia so probably won't be able to check in until Mon night! Keep an eye on the nest ( like you don't already - hee hee) Hope to see reports of lots of activities or at least a lot of rent collection! I'll check in off and on today until gotta close down for trip! Have a good one - |

Deb - have a great weekend trip. I take it that you live on what they call the south shore. My sister-in-law lives in Valleystream which I think is the north shore. We love NY but rarely get into the city as the parking and traffic is awful. We spend lots of time on Long Island. |

Good Morning all--cooler here in the a.m.'s this week. I listened to an owl last night, but heard this weird kind of honking while the owl was hooting. The only thing I could think of was a DUCK? When I asked my friend about this, she said she once heard ducks at night and looked up. Ducks were flying in V-formation overhead. We had no idea ducks flew at night. Whatever it was I heard last night remains a mystery. It was interesting. Karma trumpeted about a dozen times this 7:04 a.m., giving the neighborhood the wake-up call. Cookie, my dog, ran into the garage because she can't tolerate the pitch. Often times she howls. The poor thing. Life in the WILD!!! |

naturegal: actually we live more in the middle - but I can almost "spit" on Valley Stream - it's just a tiny bit south and west of us! next time you are in the neighborhood visiting you'll have to give a call! That would be great to say HI! The "red star" is me and you can see where we are in relation to Valley Stream! ![]() (oops forgot the map) ED: it's so confusing with the camera shadow in the nest - oh my - I need bigger glasses!

I hadn't really noticed that, but it did look like a shadow of a raven in those captures, but after checking back over other photos, I think it's part of the camera assembly. Check out the shadows in these captures.![]() Looks too square to be a bird....IMHO Looks like there are clouds going overhead from the way the shadows are fading in and out. |
