Here's your Weekend Nestflix courtesy of Jann, who found this fabulous photo that Dr. Sharpe I.D'd as Cruz' nest--under the What are your Questions section. I'm posting it here before her photo gets buried in that section. Thank you, Jann, for your eagle eye! :D

Good Morning all....cool and cloudy up here, looks like more rain, but they say no. Blue Angels will be practicing again today hope that it clears. I'm still doing Kitty care and it seems to be going a bit better. I'm exhausted though, after I arrived home from work last night I looked in the mirror and noticed these big dark circles :ph43r: lack of sleep I think. Looking forward to the weekend. I'm going to visit my son and celebrate his birthday which was on the 3rd. We will go out to dinner I'm sure.

Jann great photo of Cruz's nest before hatching! It really gives you a different perspective. What a view! Wonder how the camera will be positioned for next year? Can't wait.

Patti like the reference to "nestflix". Is that one in the cruzinary?

Have a good day all!

Last post was 10:??? and now it is 5:35 in California.. not much happening here today. I've been watching little people for two days and have not had much in-put.
We had out first fire in the fireplace Thursday, and the cool weather is very comfortable. This must be the get-away day.. wouldn't you know when I get gabby, there's nobody home????

G'day everyone. Not much happening DownUnder on our Saturday, beautiful day, rain forecasted to come tomorrow. Even the local news is quiet, unusual for a full moon period which was beautiful last night - the critters were out and about, saw 3 wallabys on my drive to pick up my daughter at 11pm. The big news is political that our Prime Minister thinks Oz literacy and numeracy standards are too low. Todays paper had an article about Program for Int' Student Assessment (PISA, no nothing to do with beer drinking), and the following statitics show this is not the case:
Maths Out of 30 participating countries:
#1 Finland, Oz #8, Canada #5, US #24
Reading (out of 4o countries):
#1NZ, Oz #3, Canada #5, US #13
Science (out of 40 countries):
#1 Japan, Oz #7, Canada #12, US #21

(the testing was on 15y/o and the statistics above are based on the top scores highest achievers)

The other big news (sporting of course in this Sporting Nation) is that two race car drivers were severely injured at the Bathurst races where the yearly meet was to be dedicated to Peter Brock (a national hero), who died the same week as Steve Irwin.

Whats happening on the other side of the Pacific???

Hi all...I've been away from the computer since yesterday afternoon...looks like a slow day here today. Ducks and geese both fly at night. When we lived in Willows, up in Northern Calif., we used to get the Canadian geese honking their way south...never got tired of seeing them in their big "V". Last night was (I was told explicitly last night) an official Harvest Moon....sooooo bright! We went to a play which was very fun and came out to a beautiful crystal clear evening in Santa Barbara.

I'm wrapping up some work and then heading home for some dinner.

Yes sirree it's might quiet here tonight! I'm dont packing and everything is charged up so off to bed - this way I'll be reasonably awake for that early early flight - what was I thinking!

Have a great weekend - if I can I'll check in from time to time but I'm not counting on it! My sister-in-law keeps us hopping when we visit them!

Be well
Later.......

Hi everyone. Been running around like the proverbial chicken, so didn't get to see much happening on the nest. Looks like most of us were in the same boat. Beautiful picture of the triangles, Patti! Thank you for that! The cameras are off for the night. I caught this shot of the West End nest sunset shortly before it went off and thought it was so pretty. Just think....only two weeks till we'll be seeing a similar sunset from the boat on our way back from Santa Cruz!

:( Okay, has anyone heard from Elaine today? There was a big explosion down her way and they had to evacuate several thousand people. Not sure if she lives near the area that was affected. Hmmm...anyone?

Hulabird might be helping her with her computer. I think that was planned for tonight and I don't see Hulabird in the nest either. Keeping my talons crossed!

KLJinOz - Interesting statistics. Frankly I'm surprised US placed as high as they did (even though it was pitiful). The dumbing down of America is a national shame. We have become a nation of pacifists that give in to any complaint and this is part of the result. If tests scores are bad they simply lower the bar. No wonder we score where we do. What can we expect in future generations? These children will be making the rules that we will have to follow. Not that all students are in this category, it isn't fair to paint them all with the same brush. There are some outstanding students out there, we just don't hear as much about them.

Will get off my soapbox now.
