Apparently bald eagles are almost compulsive nest builders, even when they're not ready to start laying eggs, so I wonder it's because the West End eagles have their nest so close overlooking the water where they're roosting and hunting anyway. The nest is probably constantly triggering their instinct to fuss with the structure. K10 and K26's nest is off away from the water and they're not bothering to spend a lot of time there now, so perhaps we won't see them do much until they're closer to actual mating and egg laying time. |

Oh my gosh I go away for a couple days and look what I missed!!! And I'm on dial up here in Virginia so it takes a bit for photos etc - will have to go back and re-read when I get home Monday night! How exciting with Dr. Sharpe's activity at the nest and the new equipment! Thanks to all who captured photos and video - can't wait to sort thru all of them! How exciting! Found out from my brother that apparently there is an eagle's nest somewhere around in this area where he lives! They have several "lakes" /ponds on the property (for the owners's private golf course) and the eagles have snatched food on occasion! Also in their description, I think there was a couple eaglets in the area as well and they just didn't know. They didn't realize the length of time it takes to get white tail/head! and now knowing the few facts I could give, they are pretty sure it was young eagles that they had probably seen! Of course we just outside of DC (to the west) and they knew all about Martha/George! Well, it's late -- am actually supposed to be printing my boarding passes to fly back home tomorrow sooooo - again thanks all for keeping us all updated so that we don't miss the really important stuff!! Be well ---- |

Hi Hulabird, I moved from Anaheim California to Fortuna California, a distance of about 650 miles. Retiring one week and moving the next was really overwhelming but it is a done deal now. Does anyone know what the final fund raising number was? |

Here ya go, woolf2b. http://www.iws.org/bald_eagles/westend%20cam.html Cumbrian - So glad you got the captures of #69 on the West End nest! It was nice seeing her there again with the sunset in the background! Thanks so much! Seeing them so busy on the nest is really getting us anxious to see K10 & K26 doing the same on theirs....especially now with the new camera! |

Oh, this is almost schizophrenic!! (sp) While I'm here, enjoying all the posts, H-B is inside my computer, working her little (oops) brains off giving my 'puter here a 'face lift'. She really deserves a medal!! Anyway, tomorrow comes early for me, so I'm off now. 'Nite all and sleep slow. "I'll see you in my dreams......." ![]() |

Shame on ME for not checking in earlier! I can't BELIEVE I missed the camera exchange! I can't believe it! I never expected it to occur on a Sunday either. Oh, I'm crushed... First, an early Wednesday update (missed gearing up for the anticipation) and now the camera change is over and done. I'm in serious need for Cruz's parents to return and begin some nestorations. Thanks Hulabird for posting the video. At least I got to see the fuzzy Dr. Sharpe secondhand! It's pretty funny how even a fuzzy figure in front of the camera makes us raise our feathers! Now I'll go back and continue to watch the Pittsburgh Steelers lose. It's just not my lucky day!

Hello All, boy just look at what I've missed today. I didn't think the camera change was going to happen this quick. Didn't get to see the new angle "live" yet, and am looking forward to see it tomorrow. Video and pics of Dr. Sharpe were too funny!! Patti and ElaineRuth, I've posted that Nightsky painting in the "HandArt..." in a higher resolution. I believe you guys wanted me to let ya know when it was done. Really happy you all like it! |

Now, now, now...I wasn't chiding anyone...I was just merely reminding you all that the raffle is slated for next weekend. I'm waiting on a clarification on a couple of small issues and I will have an announcement in the next day or so regarding the final tally and the raffle. It's coming down to the wire and I'm getting busy again so we can have an enjoyable raffle next weekend...details to follow... D

For anyone who was still wondering, the triangles were added. I think the triangles are gone forever and we will have to be satisfied with a better camera and view. For anyone who gets nostalgic about the trianges (I'm likely to be one of those), we can add some at any time. LOL Sorry if I offended anyone.

Welcome back! Moving is a royal pain! Glad you're somewhat settled in. You've moved to a beautiful area. I was up there a few years ago visiting friends. Hardly feels like California at all! I've been wondering about that too. I try to keep a close watch on this nest when the grandkids allow. Haven't seen all three there at once. #69 is the only numbers I've been able to make out on wingblings. Has anyone else seen all three or a different number on the wingblings?

Hedi and Jann--I've only seen #69 with a wingbling--and wonder if K-01 arrived before wingblings were attached? I've asked Dr. Sharpe about him under Questions---maybe a month or less ago. Tiger--I fell for the triangle and would have believed it. I was the one who added eggs to the SC nest a few weeks ago, I wasn't offended about the triangles. Cumbrian is probably off her MAC, but yes, we would have a wonderful time together at Trader Joe's. Goodnight~~ |
