Hi, I think some people may be having a hard time becoming oriented with the new camera view, so I've put together a brief orientation comparing the two camera views in a photo below. The upper photo is the old camera view and the lower photo the new camera view, with arrows going from the major branches in the two photos. The new view is showing only a cross-section of what the old view was seeing (see the yellow box in the upper photo). Much of what people thought was the nest platform in the old view was actually branches falling over the edge. The old camera view showing Cruz's favorite branch on the right was actually zoomed in quite far (~20x). The new view shows all her perching branches in line with each other, so we won't have to zoom out to get action outside the nest. I've purposefully left the new camera zoomed out a bit so that we can see adults landing on the branches and get nest building activity. The camera is currently zoomed in to 10x. Once eggs are laid, I will be able to zoom in further and will be able to fill the frame with an incubating adult, if we so desire. Cross your fingers and hope that we get to that point next season.

Thanks, Peter!! I think it will also be a lot easier for us to tell what is what once there are eagles on the nest walking around and perching. I can't wait! |

Thanks Dr Sharpe, this really helps a lot. What is that big black thing? The nest is way too uncomfortable for our little fluffy ball of fuzz right now. Can't wait for the nestoration to begin. Also, why do you think the West End birds are starting so soon? See Eagle Duo's shots from yesterday. |

The black thing is just a shadow in the nest. I'm not sure why the West End females are doing so much work on their nest. They must be bored. |

Now that we all know each other, I always thought that black thing looked like a hand grenade. |

I thought it looked like one of those rubber rat cat toys. |

Thanks, Peter... that is such a big help to someone like me who is 'spatially challenged'! Now we just have to sit back and wait.... |
