Thanks Ostrich, sorry I missed it. I was mopping and since I do that on my hands and knees, it was seriously NOT a majestic sight. |

Hi, Someone just sent me this link to the group training Whooping Cranes to fly south. Some of you might find it interesting. http://www.operationmigration.org/Field_Journal.html |

Thanks Dr Sharpe. Someone who is following this group posted the link the other day. Very interesting. I can't remember who it was off hand. Maybe you should contact them with new and innovative flying techniques. Thanks for reminding me of the link though since I hadn't finished reading the site before I rebooted. |

Hulabird, your right, CDN-CDN had posted it on October 5 thread, but I'm glad Dr. Sharpe re-posted since I forgot to go look at it when CDN posted it. Thanks Dr. Sharpe! |

Thanks Dr Sharpe for that link. Actually sometime in November the whopping cranes will be in Lodi California. I plan to go down there and see at the annual whopping crane festival that they have. Lots of activities, informational classes etc going on. Should be coming up soon. I'm sure if you all do a Goodsearch it should pop up! Oreo is doing well, thank you all for your wishes. The first thing she did after the collar came off was scratch  Now all I have to do is tackle her to give her the liquid anitibiotic twice a day. Can't wait for the fur to grow back in on her face. She looks just a wee bit odd. I will check in later I'm on a little break at work and I can feel people breathing down my neck See ya

Thank you hedi, that was a great story. Good thing they had the where-with-all to figure that out. Sometimes, I get rescues in here that I don't have a clue how to deal with their handicaps but one or two clicks on google (now goodsearch) and I can find my way. You're never the lone ranger on the Internet. |

Oz had a very weak spring rain season, now the wheat farmers are facing ruin, the canola seed cant be harvested (no rain to make it bloom) and its being harvested for animal fodder, a loss of over 50% of expected sale price. Its an on-going problem in Oz, with @40% of the island continent in desert or semi-desert environs. Along the coast isnt too bad, but the Sydney dams are at 40% capacity, some country cities are importing water (Gouldburn, Toowoomba) with elected officials taking about recycling water to drink.... voted down - I guess people would rather not drink than drink recycled water. There is a ban on watering the garden and cannot even wash the car with bucket water. We have a bore on our property, so this restriction doesnt count for us TGoodness |
