Gosh, I havent been able to log on for over 24 hours and had a mini-withdrawal going... It was HOT HOT HOT today, over 95! but at least we had a breeze blowing. We attended a horse Showjumping training session. Did I say "we", no my daughter did all the riding whilst the Rex, Felix and I sweated in the heat and drank litres of water. The training sessions was 2 hours with Vicky Rycroft, Oympiad winner from Syd 2000 Equestrian games, there were 6 in her training group, Rach being the youngest jumping at 1m15cm ( or just under 4ft). Tomorrow the training continues and it is suppose to be cooler I hope so.I've missed out on so much in 24 I dont know where to begin with my comments, so I dont think I will, I'll have a glass of wine instead! Still thinking about A-61...

Ozzie, your daughter is training with an Olympic class person? I think we'd better sit up and take a closer look here. |

yeah, rather exciting but it is through the NSW SJ Club, so it isnt like she is Olympic level. But she was Showjumping Champion in her Pony Club this last year in top grade ('A'). She has a FANTASTIC HORSE! |

I'm feeling an inappropriate feeling of pride in her, as if I have something to do with it. Can we get her autograph.... for a moderate donation to IWS of course.

You may well ask for Shorty's horseshoe! I have one! He is a champion. We got him when an Olympaid team in 2000 'borrowed' him and injured him, 2 years later he came to us (rather than ending up in a dog food can) and he has taken Rachel to great achievements. Yea Shorty (papered name 'Satin Storm'). Of course having a good rider (the person who steers!) on his back surely helps. Horse riding for Rach has been a fabulous esteem builder, all her friends seemed to be good at singing, dancing or sport, but she isnt, but is a champion on a horse....

So what are we talking ($$) for a donation to IWS for the shoe? Or do we need to set up a private eBay charity listing? 'Scuse but this bird is a professional auction sniper. I forget, are you supposed to hang them on your wall with the "toes" up or down? It'll hang right next to my autograghed picture of Dr Sharpe and Pimu. |

The opening of the horse shoe should always point up, otherwise the 'luck' will pour out. Shorty gets reshod every 6to8 weeks, I have PLENTY of shoes for anyone who wants one (donation or not... ) however, if you are really keen, I do have a riding helmet signed by Stuart Tinney (another Olympiad), perhaps that should be auctioned? It belongs to Rach, so I will have to ask her about this. Did you know the 'average' age of an Equestrian Olympiad is @40! Takes years of experience (and heaps of money) to get to that level. Rach has neither.... (at present).

OK, I think we need to start listing the shoes on eBay. DO NOT let on that you have 12 million of them laying around the barn. I have an initial goal of $20K to IWS for this year and right now, I think we're about at zero so any and all ideas for fundraising are more than welcomed. |

Firstly, we have no 'barn' (we are too poor for one of those!) the horses are 'in nature' out in the paddocks 100% of the time. Secondly, whilst your idea of ebay horse shoes ridden by an exOlympian training horse may sound great, I dont think we'd have many takers do you? BUT! What I am thinking is that I have a friend who works at Randwick racecourse and I might ask her if she can get some 'silks' or photos autographed.... that might be the go... whaddya think? PS did you see my email about laptops above? |

Just because those horseshoes seem like a dime a dozen to you, I definately want one and will pay a handsome fee to IWS to get one. I'm working on my "arrangement" wall for all my momentos from this group. For instance, I'll be getting my honorary badge matted and framed. The silks would be cool if any of us want them, but personally, I'm looking to collect stuff from our group. The shoes from Shorty would be something. The silks would be meaningless for me. I'd rather have the hair from somebody in the group's brush myself. But I'm just a sentimental slob like that. |
