You see what happens when you leave me sitting here for too long. LOL. Thanks for the permanent link to the panda, the shot of the eagle, and the mercury info. I'll be filling out the form in a minute. Good thing you don't have to be articulate. Thanks for giving me an easy assignment Jann. Edited to add: That was easy, I hope all of us take advantade of Janns Mercury call to action. Also Jann, a tiny favor. Whenever somebody adds a new link to another cam or something, can you edit your first post in that thread to add the link so things don't get lost. That panda cam is sooooo cute. |

Good (late) morning all.. This will be the only post for me today as I'm heading to Santa Barbara for the day and dinner (anniversary.. remember????) Our 39th.. My kids got dumped on last night camping in the sierras.. only rain, but ripped the camp apart.. If it had been tent camping, they would be home now..On top of it all, Sasha is sick with bad cold..she needs her grandma..today should be sunny for them.. they caught a 5 lb brown trout yesterday..took pictures of it and let it go. Today I saw 30-35 turkey vultures swirling above Oak View while I was driving.. almost killed people trying to count them and see which way they were going.. I know the trees they nest in at night and they all seem to gather in the morning to swirl before they take off in small groups... then, just now, a red shouldered hawk was sitting above my chicken's pen, trying to coax a few of them out into the open..It was such a loud, screaming hawk, that's why I went to check... Must be a young one. SOOOO, long post but my only one... check in tomorrow...Linda |

I think all of them would be fine unless we get some unrulies in here next season. All of us are pretty responsible so far. |

Man.....they're not staying in one place very long today, are they!?! By the time I came back from giving ya'll the eagle alert, it was gone. Thought it would have been there for awhile cuz it appeared to be eating. Good thing I took some captures beforehand! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Seems to be a Mercury kind of day. Here's the new homepage for the National Wildlife Federation, the gateway for the Maine eagles. http://www.nwf.org/baldeagle/ |

There's a ton of information at the National Wildlife Federation website. Here's a link that has information on recycling electronics. I'm gonna print this one out and keep it taped to the inside of a cabinet for quick and easy reference: http://www.nwf.org/electronics/whatwerecycle.cfm Gonna put this one over on the links page too. |

Back from my hike.I decided to call it a Sun Salutation. Ojailala , that's interesting about the voltures in groups. A few weeks ago I was going to SB on the 101, so I could see for miles in front of me, and noticed large groups of voltures that were several miles apart from each group, and thought that they must hang out together in there different territories. In the tall euycalyptus trees areas. I have only seen a large group in Ojai once, and thought it was because of a kill. Happy Anniversary, 39 years, Congratulations, you are very lucky to have such a wonderful family close by. That says a lot about you!! |

It took my blasted pc forever to download the WE eagle pix and I see Jann got all the pix here! Saraoh--I emailed the National Wildlife Federation this a.m.--to this email, after this email address showed up in the response to my signing a petition. This is their grassroots person: Kristin Johnson alerts@nwf.org My house is cold and I'm wearing my IWS hoodie! My Moustache parakeet is afraid of it--the eagle.Edit: I emailed Kristin about the lead bullet/Santa Rosa Island hunting/bald eagle juveniles scavenging for food. |

Happy anniversary Lala! And many more. Congratulations. I love your bumper sticker. You might need to add it as a safety feature to your car. I'm not coordinated enough to look at anything but the road when I drive. I practically have to pull over just to check the rear view mirror. Lane changes are out of the question. Thanks for the pics and recycling info Jann. I need to find the number for our local NWF office and keep it handy. Thanks for your continued fight on the lead issue Patti. |

Patti, you won't need a name tag for the trip next week. Sounds like we'll be able to recognize you by the parrot holes and 'presents' on your brand new IWS hoodie!
