Having experienced the '89 earthquake up here in SF, it is best not to try and call. If they have battery radios then they should be able to know what is going on. Sometimes it takes quite a while for power to be restored as I have seen. Hulabird is not on the big island, but northwest about 100 or so miles. Let's keep our fingers crossed that no one has been hurt. I'm sure she can feel a group hug from us all.

I've stopped trying to call after the 4th time. I don't want to strain the system anymore. I know she'll let us know asap.

I want to thank you all for the great pics and video of Dad's visit today. I missed it, so it was such a treat looking at them. Loved it.
Hula, we're all thinking about you!

Edit: Do we have any winners from the Raffle yet? I keep checking my email, but nothing yet. <_<

Hula is relatively close to the Honolulu Airport so most likely is experiencing a power outage and are shaken (literally and figuratively)- hopefully they have a generator and will be able to contact someone soon ....
If the prayers and energy generated by this forum have the powers that I believe they do, Hula and Woody are safe and sound!

Hulabird, stay safe, we love you and Woody and your whole menagerie. I know we will get a report from you as soon as you have power.

As Alan and I were closing up the boat today and putting it to sleep for the winter, I just got caught up on the news and I thank everyone for the wonderful pics and videos.

Skellis thank you for including me in such a great group, it's a very special group of people!

HulaB I sure hope you are OK and that you can let someone know really soon. We are all very concerned about our Nest Mom!

How exciting today has been with Dad on the nest and all the great photo captures. Thanks to all of you with your quick trigger fingers. I would have missed seeing this without your assistance.

Copperwyrd my thoughts are with you in your loss of Ruby.

Please keep good thoughts that my cat, Morrisa will be found and returned to me soon. She was last seen yesterday just before dark, following a man down the street. I'm getting pretty worried now, she's never been away from me this long.

Thanks again for the great photo's of Dad on the nest.

Just posted a new topic about Hula, Woody, and the gang. They are fine, although she is missing us a lot. She sends her love love love. Claims she will find a generator if necessary in order to be back in contact by tonight. It's only a little past noon there now.

H/Bird - You are tough, no earthquake is going to slow you down! You'll just shake your fist at it and threaten to dump your bedroom set on it if it tries anything funny. I suspect you are busy now taking care of all your animals, which is as it should be, they are probably pretty upset.

I see by your post time you had power this morning and here's hoping you get it back soon. It is terrible trying to do without it but if anyone can be resourceful, it is you.

I'm being light in my comments because I choose to think you will just pick yourself up, brush yourself off and ask everyone what the problem was.

We all love you and care very much, let us know if you need anything, we'll be there for you as you are for us.

Whewwww...glad to here Hula and Woody and "family" are Ok!!!!

Copper: so sorry to hear about Ruby.....that's my mom's name...kinda set me back a bit to see her name posted....peace to Ruby.

Cam Capturers: thanks to all of you to capture Dad on the nest!! So great to see him. I think they need to back off the cam just a wee tiny bit...Cruz spent a LOT of time up there.

Football: my son's team FINALLLY won a game last night 20-13. The newspaper this morning said it had been almost exactly one year since their last win. My son and I were both amazed at this. It was a fun game to watch and my son ALMOST got 3 sacks...but almost doesn't count in football.....there's always NEXT week!

Patti: hope you're doing ok...

Mercury: I'll have to read up on that later as I am having to work today....gross!

Hmmm....Some not so good news. Looks like the Maine eaglecam is down indefinitely. Here is the response I received when I contacted them yesterday:

Hi Sara,

Sorry to disappoint. I think it was hard to commit the resources needed to keep the cam online. You can find out more at this blog from the BioDiversity Research Institute:

Hi Kristin,
Have you discontinued the Maine eagle nest cam? I was disappointed not to see it operating today since there has been a lot of eagle activity (nest reconstruction) there lately. Hope it is up and running again soon! Viewing it brings me such pleasure.
Thank you,
Sara O

Peppermint - how old is your son who plays football? My grandson also plays and he is 12. We went to his game yesterday in the freezing rain, sleet, wind, etc. but they won in the last quarter 7 - 0. He also had 3 great tackles and one sack. I am a total lunatic when I go to football games as my husband used to coach a major Toronto team on which my son played and they won the city championship.
I yell, scream, root, and run up and down the sidelines. I love football and even though Canada has a league I am an avid NFL fan and both hubby and I are addicted.

Congratulations Pepperment and to your son.. I assume he is the quarterback???
I love football and my favorite team is playing as I speak, San Diego Chargers.. Goes way back to Dan Fouts.. loved that guy..SD winning over SF....Maybe this will be their year.. their quarterback, Rivers, can do no wrong today.

My son is 19, playing his second year at Santa Barbara City College. He's one of the big guys...plays Defensive Lineman as nose tackle...that's the one in the middle. Not one of the "glory" positions that gets any attention but it's the position he loves to play. Most of the time he gets "double teamed" by the other team as he's too big for them to take on singlehandedly. He's 6'2, 310 lbs but by NCAA Div I standards....he's too small....can you believe that??? He did get two tackles last night so he was verrry happy. Coach started Sunday practices this week....they are NOT happy about that...frankly, neither am I...I really think they need a day off to just......be. Not to mention it's his catchup day for homework and projects. Oh well....only 4 more games to go.
