peppermint, Congrats to you and your son.

Saraoh, I am sorry to hear about the Maine cam, didn't watch it much but have been enjoying all the videos posted especially of their nest renovations.

Naturegal, hope that you hear from your nephew soon and that he and his family are well.

Kruzmisl, Wow that was some situation with the rain and only part of the roof done. Hope that you are all ok now. (John posted about this on the Calling all......thread).

Hulabird, My husband called me at work today and said there was an earth quake in Hawai, I said Hulabird didn't mention that this morning. When I got home and checked the foram, I read your computer was down and you don't have electricy. I was wondering what your evacuation plan would be with 40 birds, dogs and cats. Mine is that all the birds are going in a big bag and I'll bring as big a cage as I can fit in my car. They will have to get along with each other and share the small space. My birds are small tho. I bet we'd see you on CNN, " Bird Lady Refuses To Leave House" Glad your Fine. Fill us in, Stay in a safe place.

Sorry but these are the best of at least 35 shots taken at the WE nest! That camera sure is a challenge! It is almost as though the bird knew as well because it just stood there and waited. Not doing too much just looking around and some preening. Then moved over to the other side of the nest. Each time the Cam froze I expected it to be gone......but oh no! she has to stick around today!

Wow, miss a couple days and all hell breaks out!! H-B, I am sooo happy you and W are safe and sound (well, safe anyway ;) ). I still haven't seen the news so I will have a lot of TV catching up to do.
The other day, when we were all mourning A-61, I got some startling news from my doctor and sorta just moved to the back of my nest.
Then today was a gorgeous Fall day, absolutely perfect, and my daughter got me out for a day of grocery and Xmas shopping!! Yes, you heard right!
We used to be able to do this quite often until little baby Natalie came along. So this was a special treat.
Then I logged on here and found out the news about H-B ................ what next??
Afraid to ask.

Yes, Bea. I'm doing okay. I'll feel better when I can see Hula-Buddy back on here.
Thanks so much for asking.

E-R - you can't just stop there.... well, actually you can - you can do anything your little heart desires but we all love and care you and when any of us are hurting or scared or grieving (or even estatically happy) this is a safe place to let it be known. I have been concerned that you haven't checked in with us.
big hugs

Well, with everything else that's been going on, I just didn't want to add to it.
But, I've been going to my opthamologist (sp) on a regular basis and last visit he said there was some 'scar tissure' behind my right cornea and he broke it up with the laser. Then I went back to him on Thurs. and my vision was a lot blurrier in the left eye and he had to do the same with it. Then he said a layer on the back side of my corneas was getting thick and opaque and by doing what they were doing, they were trying to give me the best vision possible and 'forestall the worse.
Well, to me 'forestall' just means 'hold off' or 'slow down' the inevitible.
It's not the type of thing that can be helped with corrective glasses. This would be a thick layer that wouldn't let sight through.
I don't know yet what the time frame for all this would be and I know there are so many other life-threatening things out there.
Silly me, all I've been able to think of is 'Will I be able to see my grandkids when they grow up' and 'What will I do if I can't see the computer screen'????
You can see I have my priorities in order!!

Sorry for the Downer.

I've been text messaging with Hulabird, and she just said that power is being restored through the islands. She should be with us pretty soon.

Hi all: turned on the news for the first time today just a bit ago and heard about the earthquake in Hawaii. Well all unpacking stopped and I headed to the computer to see what's up.

Saraoh: thank you so much for the update on H-Bird. She and Woody and all the critters were all I could think of when I first heard the news on TV.

H-Bird: I'm soooooooo glad you and your dear family (two and four legged) are OK. Anxiously awaiting your first hand report.

Naturegirl: likewise, I hope your nephew is OK.

Copperwyrd: Ruby is surely being greeted by all our dear ones that have passed on. I hope this small comfort helps a little at this sad time.

Skellis/Sylvia: what a beautiful tribute you wrote and I'm honored to be included in your very heartfelt words. Thank you so much for expressing such wonderful thoughts.

Peppermint and son: congrats on the football win!

ER: Not such a good report from your doctor. I wish the prognosis was better. Keep us posted with as many details as you feel like telling. We are here for you always.

And finally, what a delight to read, see pictures and video of our special visitor to the nest. I hope this means a surge in the courting urge and we will soon be seeing both K10 and K26 start nestorations on the nursery.

Going to serve up some dinner, so I'll check in later.
