Copperwyrd, I'm very sorry to hear about Ruby.
Elaine, I hope that the treatment on your eyes works out just fine. Sometimes doctors give the "worst case" scenario when that might not be what will happen at all.
Peppermint, well done to your son on the winning game!! That must have been so much fun to watch.
Hulabird/Debi, so very glad that you and yours are OK. We've been checking in with CNN all day.
Naturegal, hope you hear from your nephew soon.
Trying not to leave anyone out here, hope I haven't!

I've been gone all day and just got home - couldn't wait to check to see if I got any "special" emails. I didn't, but it doesn't seem that important now--seeing K-10 in the nest was even better ~ thank you, thank you, thank you, Cumbrian!!

And then hearing about the earthquake in Hawaii (I haven't even checked the news yet-went straight to the computer). Thank goodness Hulabird, Woody and all are okay!

And, pepperment ~ the Gauchos won!!! I know they are not the glory positions, but I love defense!!

And, Elaine ~ I will keep you in my prayers. I have been wearing glasses since I was 9 years old and losing my eyesight has been my biggest fear. I can totally empathize!

So it's been a good news-bad news kinda day. But it certainly is a reminder of what's really important. Caring, and compassion. . . .

p.s. I went thru the postings very quickly so sorry if I missed anything else....\

Edit: And thank you EagleDuo for photo captures and HB for video Parts I and II - they were great! Seeing K-26 in the Wednesday update and now seeing K-10 ~ I feel better.

These drops the doctor has me on really makes my eyes burn and tire easily. So I'm going to have to get off here.
Please do me a favor and send my love and best wishes to our Nest Mother, Hula-Buddy when she is able to get on here.
Thanks to everyone for your best wishes and esp. your prayers. They are really appreciated.

Nite all and sleep slow.

Elaine, you take care of yourself!
I've just heard from Debi/Hulabird, and she wants me to let you all know that she's still waiting for the power to come back on, and that she'll be with us asap.
Elaine, I'll tell her what you said in my next text message to her.

HB: Been out all day and worrying about you, Woody, the birds and other animals. I hope you, your animals and your home were without injury or damage. I want you to take it easy, and not worry about us on the forum, we will take care of whatever is needed.

The last time we had a serious earthquake my guys were really quiet and holding onto the cage bars as the cages moved around. I hope your guys perceived the quake coming and grabbed on tight. I grabbed the birds and sat on the bed while it moved around. They seem less affected than I was. I hope your babies are the same.

Please take care of yourself and Woody.

Rushed through all the posts of the day, so I'm apologizing in advance for anyone or anything I miss. Sounds like a big group mantle is in order!

So glad to hear Hulabird & family are okay. That was such a big relief!

Naturegirl, I hope you hear from your nephew soon and that he and his clan are all okay.

ElaineRuth, I can imagine all the thoughts whirling around in your head from your dr.'s news. If you ever need a shoulder or ear, we're here for you!

Copperwyrd, hugs & prayers to you for your loss. I hope knowing Rudy is now running free with his new friends over the Rainbow Bridge makes it a little easier, though we'd really rather they stayed here with us!

Patti, hope you're feeling better and will be able to meet us all for dinner next Sunday after the trip!

Skellis, thank you for including us in your special tribute. We were both very touched.

See ya'll tomorrow!

But, I've been going to my opthamologist (sp) on a regular basis and last visit he said there was some 'scar tissure' behind my right cornea and he broke it up with the laser.  Then I went back to him on Thurs. and my vision was a lot blurrier in the left eye and he had to do the same with it.  Then he said a layer on the back side of my corneas was getting thick and opaque and by doing what they were doing, they were trying to give me the best vision possible and 'forestall the worse.
Well, to me 'forestall' just means 'hold off' or 'slow down' the inevitible.

Actually, ER, laser surgery works wonders. I had the lazik surgery 4 years ago for near-sightedness and couldn't be happier. And the technology keeps improving, a new procedure was just approved by the FDA. Don't worry about this pessimistic doctor, get a 2nd opinion. Or a 3rd..

Thanks for the support, Karen. My daughter just had Lasik, also. But this has nothing to do with that kind of treatment.
This laser treatment is not to correct vision. It's to try to break up a thickening layer on the back of the cornea to allow the light/vision to get through.
Has nothing to do with reshaping the eye to replace glasses.

My daughter was just about legally blind without her glasses. Now, for the first time in decades, when she awakes she can actually see what time it it!! And I can't tell you how many pairs of expensive glasses she lost while wading in the ocean.
I am so happy for her!
