Vancouver Island was rated #1 island in North America in a just-released Conde-Nast survey.

ElaineRuth, thinking of you...

Thanks, you really don't know how good that makes me feel !

Just for a clarification, did you really mean to say "Conde-Nast" or "Condo-Nest"?

;)

Alger was dancing to The Hamster Dance. She opens her wings back and forth, halfway folded, and moves her feet on her perch. Throws back head and sings her little songs to it.

Oh, I need to see video of that !

I managed to get a few shots of the visitor to the West End nest. Judging from the fact that the eagle has wingblings on both sides, I'd say it was #69....since I think I remember Dr. Sharpe saying the male only has a wingblingon one side.

Wingbling on the right wing in both of these photos.

Wingbling on the left wing here.

I thought caged birds slept at night. I know when we put Misty, the budgie's cover over him at night and the lights are off, he never makes a sound.

Our little parakeets don't necessarily settle for the night when we cover them at the end of the day! They do settle down - but sometimes they do carry on doing a little of this and a little of that! ;)

I see Jann has posted some WE nest captures, good shots too, but I don't think I am duplicating them looking at some of the times. This eagle spent a long time at the nest, turning her head this way, then that, as though she was looking for/expecting the other eagle to arrive. The cam froze at 6:21PM came back on at 6:24PM, still about 8 minutes slower than actual time and when it did come back the eagle was gone.

Also wanted to post two shots of the nest, first one taken earlier this afternoon and the other at 6:11PM.
I guess this is what Dr. Sharpe meant about the lighting on the nest, rather than it taking the background colour.

My birds are no prettier than any other birds...and are not the best-behaved...HUGE sissies & not friendly because they spend too much time alone with me----> but one thing. When Alger dances and throws back those half-folded wings, it is really darling. She sings in this little voice and flings that head, turns around and shows off her back, then shows off her front. It is really really cute. She swings that big foot around and moves back and forth--she sways to her own beat. I mean she really sways. Somebody is whining, "Mommy" right now--or "mama," not sure what I heard. Better go.

Congratulations, LBtheScot, for 37 years of marriage. That's quite an accomplishment in this day & age. I've never been to the Aquarium, but KLJinOZ has...

Sylvia, Are you coming through Camarillo on Friday? I'll be here. Got the dust out of the indoor birdroom, but the rest of the place looks ransacked.

No coming through Saturday, staying over for the trip on Sunday. Will send you my phone by PM so we can coordinate, or am I crazy and the trip to Santa Ana is not on Sunday, but Saturday?.
