Cumbrian - In talking to another A-49 Cruzer on the boat back from the island about how much we appreciate these fantastic photo captures that you and Eagle Duo get of the action in the nests and that you guys are concerned about duplications and we both said who cares?! We love them ALL, every single one!!!! We just can't thank you enough!!

So today is Wednesday, I wonder if we are going to get an update? Although I think the nest shots are a pretty good substitution, I still want to hear about Cruz and the other fledglings. |

Jann and Cumbrian great captures! Wow TH was a busy place today! Nice to see that pair doing their nestorations....can't wait for SC to get going with their's. We need an extreme makeover it seems. I think Dad is ready, but Mom seems to like soaring about and exploring. Beautiful day today clear and crisp best time of the year to visit SF. Talk with you all soon gotta get back to that thing called work  |

OK, Roy brought me some breakfast.....but I am still here in my PJ's so have to go now and get showered etc.........You really wanted to know that didn't you!!! Thanks Jann for all your terrific shots....those birds at the TH were sure in/out a lot. Did you see that one of mine with one of them in the distance Part 2 5th picture I think, (to the left)..... AND thank you for the great video of K-10 earlier today........just awesome. We really do need more help though folks...........this is just the beginning.......just think when nesting really starts........So please....start to practice and then we will be ready......... I think too that we will have to have some priorities........SC is first and foremost in my mind.....but if there is action at the other two nests too we need to know who is covering them.......At present I can only have two screens up and when I return to the forum the TH/WE nests are covered by it. SC is ALWAYS ON. Jann and Debi what is your setup? All is quiet...for now ...on ALL the Nestern Fronts. Anyway off for now...........later. |

Hi Kath, yes the info came from one of the library books. I have not had much of a chance to read them (they are mainly compilations of diaries and articles kept by visitors and people who lived there and they go back over 100 years). It also includes a "chain of title" of Santa Cruz Island starting with the Mexican governor of California granting the Island to Andres Castillero in 1839. I will scan one of the articles entitled "Historical Highlights of Santa Cruz Island by Marla Daily and Carey Stanton" as soon as I can, and post it for you all. There is one diary/article in one of the other books (which is at home right now, therefore I don't know the name right now), that I found very interesting as it describes wildlife on the island waaay back when. Eagles are mentioned too. And the foxes are mentioned to be just about fearless of humans. I will write about that one too when I get a chance. |

Bea, I love all this info on these islands, thank you. I would love to read anything you have. Do you have title of the books? I have just filed a complaint with the EPA on the hunting with lead bullets on the islands. We will see if I get any responses from any of the people that I have contacted. Hey I will form a group of one to march on the Govenors office. I have friends in Sacramento!! NO LEAD BULLETS!!! http://www.backfromthebrink.org/whatisbftb...bnav=delist_faq |

G'day and good luck, Ozzie! I remember those days very well. Some stressful moments for sure, but I mostly remember some very funny moments. Right now I can only watch one of the Catalina nests and the SC nest at the same time. Might try putting up my laptop to help watch more nests once nestorations are in full swing and/or eggs/chicks are involved. Oooohhhhh......and I was just thinking. The eggs are still being gathered from and fostered into the Catalina nests. Will we be notified when this is happening so we can be sure to watch? Or are we gonna have to stay on our toes and hope to catch it? I agree that the SC takes top priority. With my new toy (compliments of HB), I am experimenting to see what I can and cannot do. There may be some major changes taking place in our house in the next couple of months, so it's hard to say what I can or can't do....an unfortunately the ultimate decisions are not Dave's or mine to make. Hopefully I'll know more after we get back from our trip to Hawaii. |
