Watching the wind blow that nest around is making me cold. They need to put more twigs on there to make some kind of shelter for those little newbies. I can see the rocking motion might be comforting but the cold breeze b-r-r-r Mom will need to bring alot of soft warm fuzzy stuff to make that pile of sticks a nice nursery.

LOL, Naturegal! Now if Roy can doctor that up with my picture in it, Denny will get his wish and I won't be subjected to the humiliation of doing it myself when Jann and Dave are here. :D

Hello all!
Dave, Jann and Hula, what's the countdown at now?

Edit, NEVER MIND, I see it under Jann's signature. Way cool Jann! Do you have to manually update it, or is it a real countdown all automatic and all?

No, I think Mr. Raven is the new contracted cleaning crew since the Jays don't seem to be getting the job done - they are taking toooo long! ;)

Hi everybody.. Just returned from Island Packer's Office.. my son's birthday is today and we are giving him (and girlfriend) tickets to Santa Cruz...He will love that because he can take his kayak with him.. while I was there, met Mary in the office and told her about the trip.. then.. she got a call from the boat that had left a half hour earlier and they encountered a humpback whale!!! All the girls in the office were excited.. unusual for this time of year.. so, we could have added a whale to our trip had we been "over the top" lucky... Also..in the gift shop area, I found a great hoodie with channel Islands logo.. a couple of books.. one I had read in high school..Island of the Blue Dolphins (Scott O'Dell) about a young chumash girl lost on one of the channel Islands (San Nicholas) for years...the other book; Diary of a Sea Captain's Wife, Tales of Santa Cruz Island.. (Margaret Holden Eaton).. had to buy that one cause it had 'Pelican Bay" on the cover with old boats anchored.. Anyway.. long post, but had a big morning.. now I hear we lost three firefighters in the Palm Springs fire.. trapped in their truck protecting a house...so very sad...

omg that's awful, Lala!! Yes...everyone be careful...Santa Ana winds are whipping up again...supposed to be in upper 80s inland. In fact....Troth...those may be hot winds blowing out at the nest. Just checked the NOAA weather and it is currently 79 degrees on Santa Cruz Island and only 9% humidity!! Here we go again with the winds....red flag warning.

"Hey, that's MY stick," says K-10.

P.S. I was "at home", but FORGOT to hit FINISH CAPTURE. Duh--can't do two things at the same time. They call it multi-tasking! Lost tons of captures.

Yes, winds were awful at the harbor.. and it was a very warm wind...Years ago we had a fire truck from Sacramento guarding our house all night as a fire got closer and closer.. they stopped the fire just yards from our house and I will never forget those guys and how hard they worked...that's why this brings back some memories...

Just heard update on radio....two other firefighters critically injured. Fire could reach 25,000 acres as it is headed towards San Bernadino forest with the trees damaged by the bark beetle.

BIXBY: keep tuned into radio/tv regarding fires!!!
