A toast to the brave firefighters who gave their lives.
A toast to the nest and until we meet again.
A toast to all of the sick animals may they be comfortable and recover

Let's hope they find this person(s) who set this fire that killed 4 (probably 5) firefighters...

I can't toast, but my thoughts are with the family and friends of the downed NPS firefighters.

Yes, with burns over 95% of his body on life support. Pray for him and his family.

How is that pronounced, Hulabird?

Every syllabble is pronounced in the Hawaiian language. There are only 13 letters. All vowels are short

Looks like I need to goodsearch the spelling of syllable

I'm off to bed - it's late - I'm tired (and hubby is still watching that ball game)

A thought for the night and to get us into tomorrow:

We all came together and have shared our experiences because of:

Ozzie privately IM'd me why I couldn't toast. I had to explain to her that a toast is rather celebratory in my view and I just couldn't do it in this case. Again, my thoughts are with the families of the NPS firefighters who gave their lives.

I think the earth is on "tilt." All this sadness today, Darrell, Marissa not found yet, the fire and the firemen, and--the Maine nest cam is down. The company suddenly went out of business and they aren't certain they can get a replacement in time for the egg laying. The world has gone mad! Time to play ostrich and put my head in the sand (although I'm not certain they do that and it would have my rear in the air [not a pretty sight]). Help someone please, some good news.

Karen,

Having spent 12 years driving ambulances and feeling close to every emt paramedic or firefighter...raise the glass, not in memory of those fallen in the line of duty, but for all who sacrifice their lives everyday to keep us all safe and secure...salute all who do the job, so that all who don't can be safe.
