Rodger, How long has it been since you've been back to the islands? Did you see bald eagles? You are one of the lucky ones to have lived in this area when it was pristine.

Darrell:

I'm so sorry to hear about the temporary (we hope) detour in your relationship. We will all keep good thoughts for you, and I am positive that things will work out. Just keep a positive attitude, and continue the self improvement that you have begun so you can be ready for the good things which are coming your way.

Sylvia

Darrell, I just want to 'ditto' everything that has been said here. Esp. about the things you have started for your own well-being. There comes a time when, for our own good, we need to get a little selfish and think about what is good for us, in mind and body. As we 'get better' physically, it seems to me that we can handle our other problems more easily. Not that a broken heart is anything 'easy'.
We need to love ourselves sometimes.

Ok, I'll send you my bill in the morning. ;)

Roger, I'm so glad to see you posting again. And thank you soo much for giving us a glimpse into your life. Thank you also for explaining the circumstances that led you to Santa Cruz. Would you mind telling us a little about the animals you encountered while being there? Did you see any foxes or eagles or other birds?

Thru this forum, the eagles, and also the Island trip we just did this past Sunday, my interest in the islands has grown a lot. I wish you could have been with us on our visit to Santa Cruz. Maybe you will join us for the next one? I know we're planning a spring trip to Santa Rosa, but Harpo is coming to visit sometime next spring from New York, and I want to go to Santa Cruz with her also. (If she wants me along :P ) Please consider joining us.

Very pristine. The Dr. had a very set and strict guidenances to play in his backyard (all 55’000 + acres of it). I have not been since 1987. No never saw a Bald Eagle there. At that time never saw a Golden Eagle either. Foxes everywhere. Another story. Have been around the island on boat. The Nature Conservatory became more restrictive about landing on the island than Dr. Stanton. If you would ask via mail to Santa Cruz Island Ranch Co. for landing and what you want to do, as I understood, if it was reasonable, he always said yes. Times have change, most of time not for the good. Toooooo bad. But they, The Nature Conservatory has no better choice.

I just wanted to thank you for all your support and all the love you have shown me, not only now, but for quite a while now. It's not the same but I know that the love I feel from you and for you all will never die or be put aside and that means an awful lot to me.

It has not been an easy day, hopefully I'll be able to sleep a little bit tonight. I'm going to try. I'm off to bed, I hope you all have a good night, and I'll see you all in the morning.

Ojai Hikers, are you guys still here? I think I read a great Cruzerism in one of your posts, gotta find it again. Be right back.

Edit: Darn Flood control :P

It was nestaholic. So funny. If that's not in our Cruzerisms yet, please enter it!

Edited again: Just looked in Eagle Duos listing of Cruzerisms, and it's not there yet.

Wow, the Maine cam went down and they were headed over here only to find our cam was going down. And then Darrell's news. Our son is leaving for South Carolina in the morning and sending for our daughter in law and our grandkids in December or January. We have sick and missing pets and sick members and sick family. It has been a horrible day. We need to try to put 10/27 to rest and hope everything goes up from here.

And good you have Hawaii to look forward to....Hula will mantle your hearts.

Thank you all for the good captures and videos today. I can't believe we're not going have our nest tomorrow. I came home, logged on, and read the bad news. Hope we will get the camera back on very soon. And I also hope Darrell will feel better soon. And although I missed the toast (I had just started catching up with posts and do not go to the end first) I raised a glass a little while later.

Lot's of sad news today (firefighters, camera, Darrell).
Maybe because of the seven sisters in the sky around Halloween time? (Goodsearch is in order!) Hint: You can see them at midnight almost straight above you in the sky.

Anyways, goodnight everyone

Edit: Oh no, Dave, I'm so sorry. What else is going to happen today? We better just go to sleep like you said.

Jann has been in tears all evening. It brings back memories of when my brother and I joined the Marines together. I could hear my mother crying in her room down the hall the night before we left, most of the night. It haunts me still.

Just finished catching up with the post so now I can go to bed!

Roger your info on Santa Cruz is great, very interesting, keep the storys coming!

Peppermint thank you for the message about your cat Maggie. I know in my mind that it's possible for Morrisa to come back. But it's very hard to know that in my heart. She is such a sweet, loving cat and very friiendly to everyone. All the neighbors think someone took her. I just hope whoever has her leaves the door open soon so she can come home. Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts. They really help a lot.

Margie, don't give up hope. Thinking about ya!

Roger, I forgot to tell you earlier, I've scanned and posted a chapter from a book called Santa Cruz Island - Anthology. The chapter was written by Marla Daily and Carey Stanton. If you have not read the book yet, here is the link. You might find it interesting

OK I'm done! (deited)

Deb, beside the obvious name of Hydrocephaly, do you know the name when it is secondary to advanced age?
How old is mom? I'm so glad they can do soething that will reverse her condition! Thanks for that information. [/QUOTE]
ER: No don't know - I'm on the NY end of all of this. My brother is in Oh with mom an he's doing the dr. visits - I did go home couple weeks ago to be with her at the hospital for the isotope tests which was the final confirmation. I'm happy that a simple shunt will fix the problem as to the other diagnosis which would hav been parkinsons!

I know we're planning a spring trip to Santa Rosa, but Harpo is coming to visit sometime next spring from New York, and I want to go to Santa Cruz with her also. (If she wants me along :P ) Please consider joining us.

I thought there was going to be a "group" trip next year but haven't heard if in spring or fall. Personally if hubby and I are going to make a trip - it would probably be better in spring so we're going to seriously look into that within the next week or 2. I want to run thru the thread and see what all was planned and how to use as a guide - if others are available and want to join us - GREAT!! I just want to come and see..... and of course you are all welcome to be with us but I don't know the area at all so I won't be much of a tour guide .... but we can discover together! :P If the dates are available soon (?) for Santa Rosa - we'd like to do that and Santa Cruz when we come!!!
