I hear some chattering too.

Nest has changed colors again. Does a lot of that early in the morning.

The morning colors are just beginning. When the sun is out, it looks like autumn every morning on the SC/PH nest!

NJ Bald Eagle Management VI - "There have been many great days. This year at the midwinter eagle survey, as I sat in my car with my scope attached to the window, watching for birds, I saw three eagle heads above the ice of the marsh. I realized that three eagles were sitting in a line in an indentation in the ice, three immatures in various stages of development. It was wonderful to actually have three eagles in my scope at one time.

One of the nests I watched had never hatched viable eggs. This was the same nest where the eagle had died from electrocution. The next season, there were a pair of eagles again on the nest. From what is known of eagle behavior, the theory is that it would have been the same female with a new mate back at the nest. I watched the eagles and saw that they had laid eggs. For the next 40 days, I watched at the nest, expecting disappointment. It is difficult to observe the pairs' dedication to the eggs when you think that the outcome of all of the hard work will be failure. But the days went by and the eagles didn't abandon the nest. As a matter of fact, they started to behave as if they were feeding a chick. I was happy to concede that they had finally hatched a healthy chick. "
