The young peacock and peahen are the ones I posted in the past when they were so little and cute...last years eggs I hatched in incubator and switched hen eggs with mother.... those three peacocks are living in Ojai at the turtle ranch... and the hen eggs that hatched under the peahen, are with the chickens, doing the chicken thing.. everyone seems happy... five peacocks is enough and there is even a 6th peacock that lives in the neighborhood and makes visits up here to see the gang... it can get away from you and become a problem, so we are maintaining our five. :)^

Went chasing rainbows this afternoon... the red-tailed hawk flew into the large oak tree where she has a nest... the middle pic is the valley from the west end..near the lake...

Beautiful Linda! :><: :D

This may be common knowledge, but I just found out that A46 is the "adopted son" of Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report, so he may be the best-know eagle in the U.S.!  I posted a message on the sbcobirding site that if anyone sees him in the area tomorrow to post it ASAP so some of us might be able to see him (I missed him by half an hour, and no one has reported him since).

Nina

NINA---You did super posting this news earlier today! :><:

If you go to home page of IWS Forum and click on the Eagle picture---there is a drop-down --select "to track an Eagle". You will see a map of the wanderings of A46 aka Stephen.

I agree Nina, loved your post today and wish I was able to jump in the car and race to UCSB... thanks for keeping us informed... :soar: :soar:

The plane crash story is very sad :( but what I am wondering is how a pilot who apparently was not licensed to take people on sightseeing trips was doing just that? Doesn't the FAA regulate this kind of thing.
