George I found the information on the Eagles Nesting in our area here. Apparently we have 3 nests. I saw the report on the Falcon's too here. Will send you the info. tonight via: e-mail. :D

.

Goody goody! Would be an interesting excursion to lug a tripod and lens to a good vantage point and see what could be captured with the digital slr :clk:

Good morning Cruzers.

A bit of news here. Animal Planet was in our town yesterday. They filmed a segment on our Smokey at the Fire house. They are doing a Dalmation story on I think the program Animals 101. It will be on air in the Spring sometime. I'll keep you posted.

How is everyone doing today?

What kind of SLR do you have George? I have a Sony SLR :D I can't wait to see what pics you get :clk:

The eagles here have been spotted doing nestorations. Of course everytime I go to get some pics they are MIA :'( I just might head out this AM and see if they are there.

I have a nikon d50, d80, and d90 for the nikon digitals. My film body nikon slr is the F100. The sony you have probably has the carl zeiss lens which is one of the premium optical houses in the world on a par with the folks from leica

Then there are my assortment of leicas and leica clones

IIIa vintage 1938
Pre and post war IIIc bodies and a variation with a rarer shutter curtain
all three varieties of the IIIf circa 1952 the red dial, the black dial and the self timer body
Leica IIIg the last screw mount leica

Single stroke and double stroke M3 bodies with the then new leica bayonet mount
Leica M4-2

German whermacht heer leica with markings
very rare leica 250 that is motorized vintage 1940

A Leica R4mot body- the only leica slr in my collection

the clones: these are very similar in design to the leica thread mount bodies

Nikon S- a leica thread mount body vintage 1953
the Nicca and its us version the sears tower 4
canon IV aka a "canon knobwind" as the film advance

Then there is my medium format (120 film with a 6x4.5cm negative) 2 mamiya m645 bodies with backs and lenses as well as a hasselblad 503

This is why i am a self confessed Cameraholic and have so many cases to store the gear in. :P

In a former existance as a community leader on AOL, i hosted a chat for the YGP community on classic cameras and was aka HOST YGP Wetzlar
(wetzlar germany was where the leica was manufactured by the company Ernst Leitz. LEICA is sort of an acronym for LEItz CAmera

the camera to the right of my name below is a Leica M3 body with a collapsible 50mm f2.0 Summicron lens vintage 1955ish :P The leica M bodies all have that similar shape including the newest M8.2 which is their digital m mount body and costs an arm a leg and ones first born for just the body. About 5000.00 wich is why i dont have one

Andi that sounds like a plan to me. P.H has drenching rain again so I doubt we'll see any action there again today. Looking forward to seeing any pictures you take of Eagles.

George I hope you don't carry all of them at once. You must decide what you will photograph that day, and select the best one for that particular shoot. Am I correct?

WOW, You sure have a collection George :)^ Now I really can't wait to see your pics :D

Hi Cricket :}^

I'm gonna get my camera and stuff together and head out. The nest is about 10 minutes away. They funny thing is, the nest is in a tree right behind a local bar. I'll try to get the bar and nest in the pic. If you go to Youtube, and search Old Dutch Tavern, they have a video of the bar and the eagles nest.

I will see you in a little bit.....keep your fingers :X: :X: that the eagle pair are there :D

yes which is why i have two , as i call them, "Grab and go" backpacks. a lowepro microtrekker and a larger , with puter pouch KATA brand that holds more tools than the smaller lowepro.

I have gotten lazy in my late middle age too. I used to carry 2 or three bodies and i find that now i am normally taking only one body with me when shooting,

With the nikon and the newer fancier cameras now we have auto focus which makes it great for quick shooting. Unlike my leica bodies too, there is auto exposure instead of me having to rely on a hand held light meter such as my gossen luna pro. With digital too one can check the exposure to see if the shot was done correctly and modify the exposure if needed instead of waiting for the negatives to be "souped" to see if we got the shot. Ive blown many a roll of film with improper exposure in my time too. Not cheap even if you self process the negs.

George I looked at the Website Andi told us about and saw the nest in the tree. I see a lot of nests in trees around this area. How does one know if it's a birds, squirrel, or an Eagle's Nest? Some are bigger then others, but I never see any activity.

Plus I thought Eagles only nest in Pine Trees so that's where I look when Ken's out driving about.
