Ah i found an article on the three eagles nests in and around philly. I knew that one pair had been hanging around at the old philadelphia naval shipyard but didnt know about the one at the John Heinz national wildlife refuge in Tinicum Philly Eagles nest aricle from GoPhila site I just wish i could trust my car to drive down there to Tinicum as its not that far actually from me. I may see how easy it would be if i took the train to the airport and see whether i can get there from it. With a decent car i am barely 15mins from there if the traffic is not backed up. Should be just off I95 near bartram avenue or pa 420 |

Greetings all. Just washed my hair (long) and long time to dry. Plan to do laundry today. Wrote a long email to my best friend in CA, as we are both retired, and can't catch each other very easily on the phone. I am now printing out some new business cards for DH. Will laminate some and put the "business card size" magnets on the back. Good day to do it. He is currently doing one of Cricket's "powernaps". As I posted yesterday(?) I put up a bird feeder, and thought I had Greckles. This morning, I got a closer look. They are little starling type birds, but they have a white trim on their lower wing side. When they flap their wings, I am seeing flashes of red. I need to look that up. Haven't seen these before. One of our "movers and shakers" at church that does all the set ups for our monthly fellowship luncheons, game nights, etc. just lost her house to fire. She said they wanted to remodel and she and her son had moved to a duplex just across the street. All her furniture came over to the duplex. New appliances in kitchen were lost. The fire department said it was so hot that they probably won't be able to tell what started it. Both she and her son were at work at the time. Now is hoping insurance will cover rebuilding. At least she has a place to stay. How many eagle cams are we going to have this year? Looks like Peter is on a roll Looking forward to all the nests and :soar:

I could have stayed there forever too I just love watching them But I was so excited she/he was there......that I rushed home to share the pics. I posted 7 and I took about 100 pics I still have a lot to learn about my camera. It can do alot and I still have to figure it out. Cricket, I think eagles usually make their nest in poplar trees. At least thats what the eagles here are in. You will definatley know when you see an eagle nest. You can spot them in a trees far away. Squirrels nest inside trees. You just keep your eyes open I'm always looking for eagles and new nests

The rain on the beach last night was fabulous! We're expecting the second storm today! I'm sure PH will have another drenching today. We had some sun yesterday on my way home, and I could see the green on Santa Cruz, like an emerald in the sea. Our lucky Northern C.I. eagles. have it made! |

ColemanThanks Laurie He's just so darn cute. I Love his name(you already know that) My brother was gonna adopt a persian cat named Mr. Wilson. (I love that name too ) The adoption fell through. She (owner) convinced her DH to let her keep him. (My brother understood) She did find a cat for my brother to adopt and her name is Meesha. She surprised him with cat. Meesha likes to lay in the sink  She is beautiful. And her tongue always sticks out

Here the squirrels have nests which resemble clumps of leafs in a group of branches unlike , for example a robbin who nests often where a limb branches out from the trunk as it is better support. I would surmise that an eagle desires to be on high ground so i would bet they would choose whatever tree is the highest to build their nest in. Tulip Poplar trees tend to be rather large and rapid growing here in SE pa. The ones in my hard are roughly 4 x the height of the house from the rooftop to the ground. I also checked the website of the John Heinz national wildlife refuge and it looks as if i can get there via riding the trolley but alas the route from where i would first get onto it goes thru not a very good region of philly. |
