Eagle Comments Overheard at the Eagle Fest:

1. Mom Eagle leaves the baby eagle in that tree while she hunts (it was a 2 year old juvie)! She'll be back soon.

2. They only eat mice.

3. Bald Eagles only mate while flying in the air!

4. Bald Eagles lock talons while flying to mate!

5. What kind of bird is that on the ice?

6. I thought looking for bald eagles would be stupid.

7. Don't all eagle have white heads?

8. It looks just like a bald eagle

to give you an idea - this eagle is sitting on a side inlet on a big hunk of ice -just floating by as we all watched!

no sandie - these eagles are all wintering on the Hudson River just above the Tappan Zee Bridge - we live on Long Island - 40 miles away ???

I'm having technical difficulties downloading the best ones of today - the fishing and talong swinging! I may have to sort out what's on the camera and then work from there - I haven't deleted the first 2 trips yet - oops! :blsh:

Deb - Absolutely amazing photos, what a way to celebrate Gary's birthday. Can't wait for more pics.

Gary - Those comments are hilarious, dumb, but hilarious nevertheless. rofl rofl

ES What a fabulous way spend your :bday: ! You and Deb may have started a new tradition for your birthday---next year you can take and cake and thermos of coffee --light the candles and let the eagle calls be your birthday song. (don't mind me, I am hopeless nature romantic).

The photos you and Deb are posting are awesome and I am so excited for you to have a place that close by to view these beautiful eagles in such numbers! :><:

Loving all the photos, Deb & ES! <3 <3 Keep 'em coming! Waiting on pins and needles for the one(s) of the locked talons.

Gary, shaking my head at the 'eagle comments'. It really is amazing how little so many people know about our national bird, isn't it? I remember hearing a lot of similar comments when we saw Sequoia at San Pedro last year. Did you or Deb try to enlighten any of them?

Late in the day - eagle has the fish - then he doesn't - he was being pursued by other eagles.... not by the boat that you can see!
