I had a very close call Sat morning on 405 freeway in sudden downpour.. just past LAX.. a car that was 2 cars ahead of me, lost control and I felt the 'slow motion' thing going on as it went sideways and then hit the center divider and then came towards the car ahead of me and me as well.. My thought was that I was going to be in my first accident... car ahead of me hit her and her bumper flew off and I just missed it... I finally got stopped after almost sliding into another car that was involved...Man... I shook forever... did the 911 call... then, further up the road by two minutes called 911 again for 2nd accident .. didn't see this one happen but it had just happened... rain was horrendous... anyway... ended up in Laguna where I got to see my sister that night in a production of 'Abbasolutely Fabulous'.. lots of Abba songs... sooooo fun... then Sun. shopped for new light for kitchen and then home on a dry freeway this time... Malibu coast was beautiful with lots of strong waves and fuffy clouds.. I'm a little gabby this morning because I can't sleep and am mentally getting ready for 40 people at my house and it might rain again... I have cookbooks all over the bed so better get back to the planning... Will not be on much this week for sure.... Hiker, loved the picture of the kids IWS forum...

Good morning Cruzers. Linda, wow your guardian angel was with you on Saturday!! Glad you are okay. A big welcome to all the new members. So many eagle pictures this weekend. I love it. Guess what? I opened my email at work this morning and was informed that I am one of five people who have been nominated for a Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Classified Service. Wow. I'm sorta shocked. But happy. |

Good morning all! Deb I will have to go back and see what fun eagle-watching you two had Saturday while I was stuck in my class! Lala - Glad to hear you are OK! Here's a bit of synchronicity for you - I just bought a new Toyota Matrix AWD in January, and just yesterday morning I placed one of the red-tail feathers in my visor, for I guess you could say good luck and good energy. So I am glad to hear someone was watching over you! |

That sounds great! What does the award mean, and do you get any special events as a nominee? |

Well I knew I was losing my memory when I turned a certain age but now that I am having major computer problems, it says I am losing "My Virtual Memory". I have no idea what that is but it has slowed down my computer to a snails pace. It takes forever to load pictures..............so please bear with me in Chat and Nest Observations if I can't post photos.

Carole if you are on a Windows machine, your virtual memory (assigns a chunk of your hard drive space to be used like RAM) through something called a paging file. You can typically clear it by closing programs, but a reboot will do it too. What typically happens is your hard drive becomes too full and you get what you are experiencing. You will find this setting under Control Panel > System > Advanced (tab) > Click Settings button under "Performance" section > Advanced (tab) and then you will see "Virtual memory" section at the bottom. Try deleting stuff off your computer, or add another paging file if you have two hard drives (ie, C:\ and D:\ where D drive is not your CD or something. |

Carole, I am having the same problem! Mine says that there isn't enough virtual memory and that windows is making it larger. But it comes up on a regular basis. If you have so much memory on your computer, and it needs more, it uses virtual memory. It allocates some free disk space for swapping out of data.I have never went in and actually increased mine on this computer. I used to do that at work. I have something like 79 gigs of disk space - and half is free to use. I need to go in and tell it to give me plenty, but want to read up first to see what the recommendations are. |
