LBtheScot glad to 'see' you. Mom Norfolk is really on a roller coaster ride in her nest today. It is swaying around so much I am getting trying to watch it. Maybe it feels like "Rock-a-Bye-Eggy' to her though

VICKI/SUMMER818--CONGRATULATIONS AND BRAVO!BRAVO! BRAVO! - On you tremendous weight loss---didn't happen without a lot of hard work and commitment on your part! I bet you feel 10 years younger and 10 years peppier too I have been so enjoying the past two mornings walking up at a park near me. The San Gabriel Mountains snow covered against the clear blue sky, on my right and the ocean and Catalina Island view on my left and the meadowlarks and gnatcatchers and other birds singing their hearts out. Pure morning bliss! Supposed to get more rain --chances good from Thursday on thru Sunday and Monday, they say. I hope so, bring it on! Then when it stops more beautiful snowcovered mountains to enjoy viewing and much needed water in the reservoirs! |

Thanks Karen, it had to be done! My big butt hardley fit in my chair. Your hikes sound fabulous, what an incredible view you must have. Enjoy and keep it up! And yes, I'm one heck of a lot peppier than before carrying that extra 50lbs. We sure do need that rain, water rationing has been the topic on the news, even when it was pouring last weekend. We have a lot to catch up. Lake Piru in our area is lower than it's been in decades. Very sad. |

You're not kidding Kathie. I think it is going to be terribly hard for all of them when they realize the 'salmon' gravy train is never coming back. ![]() There must be generations of eagles who are conditioned to showing up at her home for the free handouts because they have been going there every winter since they were fledged. Even though I know that it will be more natural for them to have to find their own food all winter, I know that probably there will be a higher mortality rate because the hand outs have stopped. It seems to be particularly cruel since the fish canneries have all those leftovers they can't use At the cam in Estonia, they are putting out all kinds of food for the wild animals that is not fit for human consumption to help them get through the bitterly cold winters there. Some of those eagles travel from neighboring countries to get some of it. Maybe if the Alaskan gov't agreed that the birds could be fed much farther away from human populations, it could continue. Maybe not though as long as hunter extraordinaire SP is in charge  The 's need a new advocate for sure because there is a huge spin off to the economy from visiting photographers and others during eagle season too. I'm hopeful something will be done to help them through the winters.

Cricket You need to go back into your post by clicking on the edit button and remove all that url for the second pic. Just delete it because it is too complicated to tell you how to fix it up so it shows up again. Then click on submit modified post BBFN Peeps

Penny, during a massive brush fire in Malibu a while back, there was nothing in the canyons for the animals to eat, just ash. My friend and I went to the feed store, got two bales of hay, and Vons donated all the veggies and fruit that was going to be tossed and were given to us for the critters. We hiked with bags of hay and veggies into the canyon, within' minutes deer and rabbits came out to eat. Poor little things were starving.

They must be working on the P.H. Cam. The nest has a silvery appearance to it now, and it is SHARP! You can see the strands of fluff. BEST PICTURE I HAVE SEEN YET! THANK YOU SO MUCH! GREAT JOB!
