and before I take my leave til this evening, here is something that was sent to me yesterday...

HELL EXPLAINED BY CHEMISTRY STUDENT

The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term.

The answer by one student was so "profound" that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well :

Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant.

One student, however, wrote the following:

First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today.

Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.

This gives two possibilities:

1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.

So which is it?

If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, "It will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you," and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number two must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct......leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting "Oh my God."

THIS STUDENT RECEIVED AN A+.

:}^ See you later alligators

Having a lazy day today. Company left this morning and I caught up on laundry and puttered around a bit. DH and Coleman are napping. One last winter carnival event tonight. Meeting friends out for dinner and then to the Gala Fireworks and Winter Carnival 2009 will be done. I for one am tired.

The race is about to start so I'll catch up with you all later.

Patti I have been working on Ken for years not to please let me cook. It is something I really enjoy doing. I think I am getting somewhere with him. He still won't allow me to cook on nights when I have to work or dinner would be @ 11:45. I tried that once before.

Patti my sister Joan left her tree up till I got there on May of last year. Needless to say the needles were all over the floor, and it was drooping very badly. So sad. Many ornaments had slid off. I took the balls off and put them on a table, and the lights and put them away. The balls needed to be dusted. She said she would take care of the rest. I went back in June and it was just the way I had left it so I finished by getting the tree out, and vacuumed the rug for her. After I left I put Maria in charge of cleaning and putting the balls away, which she did. My next trip down was in Nov. Joan ordered an artificial tree this time, but it arrived broken, so another was ordered and the same thing. We ended up keeping the first one because it had the multi colored lights that she liked. I personally prefer the all white lights. They give a richer appearance. Well Maria put the tree up two weeks before Christmas, and I decorated it. Maria had it down by the 12th Day of Christmas!

George I have that Recipe for the Rice Pudding and will be Posting it in the Exchange. I add raisins to mine, and cook it till it is charred around the edges. I like it that way!

For those of you who know me well....I finally got the rest of the Christmas tree taken down last night and everything cleaned up and vacuumed....whewwwww

Ha! Ha! I just got my tree and the rest of the Christmas decorations taken down and put away the week before last. We got a fake tree a couple of years ago, and that is one of the benefits - I can procrastinate and be as lazy as I want to be. When we had real ones, they often came down the day after Christmas, always by New Years as they just get too dry. I was threatening to leave mine up and decorate it for Valentine's day, but dd had a fit. She is having friends over for a book club meeting tomorrow and wanted it down by then.

Deb - Super slide show. The scouts look as though they are having the best time, Gary too. What a lovely setting and I like the log cabin quarters. The weather must have cooperated as the boys are in short sleeves playing football. Thanks for sharing your weekend with all of us.

Cricket - I have a girlfriend who bought a pre lit artificial tree that she had professionally decorated. After Christmas she covers it in a huge plastic bag and she and her DH carry it out to the garage where it lives until the next Christmas season. Meanwhile we struggle to get the 9' tree in and put up and it takes me two days to decorate each season. Then it's two days again to clear it out. That is if I stay with it for at least 6 or 7 hours each day. :8O:
