That reminds me...no one has said anything about The Bachelor last night. I was pretty uncomfortable when it came to the overnight dates....just seemed kind of smarmy to me... the cameras were kept on for too long :o Three different girls on 3 subsequent nights....at least they were in different 'special suites'

The girls had to pour their hearts out and declare their undying LOVE while he just kissed them!!! I still think he is a real catch though I was so disappointed when the Canadian girl was sent home. :'(

"Turtle Heaven" is a new one on me, Linda.  Is that up in Ojai?

Kathie, I named it that because this couple is dedicated to turtles and tortoises....and are members of the Ventura Turtle Club... they also do the turtle display at the Ventura County Fair... lots of property along Creek Road with the beautiful creek you get to cross.. when my DH found a little turtle, I took it to them and since then I have gotten to know them.. I took them three baby peacocks that I hatched and they are raising more on their own... they rescue other animals as well....

The turtle talk brought back lots of childhood memories. I used to have the little turtles from the pet store when I was a kid and kept them in these cool plastic dishes with a moat around an island complete with plastic palm tree. One summer my dad got carried away with the firestarter for the BBQ and set the patio roof on fire. Pretty soon the whole patio was engulfed in flames, including the wooden table my turtle was on. When the fire was put out, one side of the dish had melted and the turtle was nowhere to be found. Never did find out what happened to him but I suspect my folks disappeared his crispy little body before I got out there. :<::

We also used to drive through Texas & Oklahoma on the turnpikes to get from Albuquerque to Springfield MO, where my grandparents lived. The Turner turnpike ran right through the migratory route of the box turtles and at certain times of the year, we would see them all over the highway. It upset me terribly to see them smashed on the road or slowly trying to make their way across while the cars zoomed by. I finally talked my dad into stopping one year and we rescued two of them and brought them back to Albuquerque, where they lived for many years in our rock garden. Eventually, I quit seeing them and still don't know if they moved on to another territory or to turtle heaven. :'(

I had the exact same one Kathie but I have no recollection of what happened to our little turtles. At least they didn't become crispy critters :o ...that is some BBQ story !!!

But did we discuss The Bachelor last night??? I think it is getting to be a toss up...that was a really hard thing for him to do last night.. I kinda thought Molly would go, even though I like her...

Kathie...we used to have those little turtles, also, in the same type of dish  They didn't usually live more than a couple weeks at the most. Poor little things :( They were so cute, tho! My sister's friend has a box turtle and it stays in a shoebox under her bed during the winter hibernating

I used to get those turtles at the fair..thankfully they outlawed them..even in pet stores... poor little things...cameleon lizzards too... we would win them in a game and somehow they had a leash/collar that we would pin to whatever we were wearing... then the amusement rides... where the critter would be all over the place.. makes me sad now...
