Lala, I absolutely agree with you about the many pages in NO.
There is no way IWS can go thru that number pages at the end of their day.
I try to follow NO all day (while at work), but still, I was not able to catch up on today without skipping a page here and there.
I think the idea of a "summary" report of some kind at the end of the day is excellent, unless we can come up with a way to reduce the number of posts in NO.

31 pages on NO, too daunting for me to read through. Great that we have so many watching and recording. Stephanie will never get any sleep if this is the length with just one egg. Should there be different NO pages for each nest? Was it this prolific last year at this time?

I like reading the different ways that people post what is going on and all the pics and that takes up a lot of room. I am sure Steffani and Peter skim and look for certain things from certain reliable posters in the forum. That is how she does it I am sure. NO can be very funny too and I enjoy it!

Who cares how many pages are in the NO chat thread as long as it is NO related. Steffani told me she likes to read what we say and that is all that matters. I am thankful to all who post over there as I do not have time to stay glued to the web cam :D

I know :<S><: likes to read what we post Janna but sit down right now and pretend you have been hiking all day and see how long it takes you to really read all 31 pages.. Don't you want to make it easier for her??? I read NO all day.... B-)) and :<S><: don't have all day...we are getting more and more members each day and everyone likes being involved in reporting what they see... I was only suggesting some kind of short cut for them... :soar:

Granted the NO board is full over over exubarant observant eagleholics. However, it may actually serve a purpose to confirm that an event happend at a specific time or when combined provide more information garnering from multiple observers of an event. What one of us may consider "ho hum" and not report somebody else may make a note of it and the experts could find it to be more significant than we non professionals thought it to be.

I am not trying to take any sides as both trains of thought have validity. I can not type fast enough to input an event on the nests as others nor spend more than a few minutes on one nest or another. This may be true with other viewers as well and who also wish to contribute to any information recorded.

With any scientific study often there are repeated observances of the same phenomenon or behavior until "something" actually happens. This is just the nature of observation it seems.

Am just throwing in my two cents for what its worth.

Lau, I checked, and it looks like the number of pages last year up until March 1st or so, were between 20-30 on average, then we went down to approx 15 pages after March 1st. I think we probably discussed this same issue last year around the same time.

I think Steffani knows how to handle herself like I stated in my post. Long yes but very necessary and it gives different individuals a way to express themselves as well which is always nice. :><:

Another solution, if I may, would be to have a NO team of reporters... the rest of us could read what they observe during the day...they could control the posts and delete any they feel are not important... the forum has changed so much in 3 years.. we were all one big chat room once.. with just a few members...and now we have had to divide our focuses.. in so many directions...this is still just a suggestion...

That's what ALL EAGLES ALL THE TIME is all about. It summerizes in captures and videos what happens on each of the nests each day. If a person then wants to go to NW and read more about an event, they can.

We also have the BREAKING NEWS thread pinned at the top of NO for major events. Again, if they want to read more about a specific event, they can go to NW.

We also put major events on the CALENDAR along with videos and a few captures.

I too, thought something really significant happened with 31 pages in NO....it will calm down...and I checked the breaking news thread as well...and saw nothing there from today...so I just sorted skimmed through

:bday: Happy Birthday, Andrea! :bday:

It's late so I hope you all see this...thank you for the lovely and thoughtful Birthday wishes today! You really made my day.

W**k has been busy and difficult. Layoffs and reorg's are never fun. But this week we have an egg! And Mama Hummer has more eggs! And Carole has pictures of Squish and "mossy, dancing" turtles. And Linda has pictures of rainbows. And Marti has pictures of Pelicans. And it goes on and on...

You are a wonderful group of people!

Thank you again. :}^

The whole purpose for this website is viewing eagle nests of the Channel Islands. We are all very fortunate to be able to learn about eagles, watch their whole nesting cycles for months and months. NestObservations and Questions, Tech Help are the most important links of the website.

It is all about the Eagles. :ok:

PS--equal time for All About Eagles and the Calendar for importance as well!! Thanks to Jann and Pat all the others who keep us on course every single day! :><:
