I wish we could barbeque at the Cruzer Lake Event, but I don't have a portable barbeque.

Topa: you're welcome to borrow my Weber...someone with a pickup would need to pick it up. I also have a little tiny one but it wouldn't serve very many people. We used to take our Weber up to Casitas to cook our turkey when we camped there for Thanksgiving....that was the life!!

Any chance you could spread the word to anyone and everyone about two free dogs? It always seems to hit in waves. I had just heard of a young dog (from my "D" litter born spring '07) who is being returned to me and then someone else contacted me about another one they want to return. The older one is not yet two, she was raised with kids but apparently tormented by them and not socialized outside of the family, so she's not friendly with children and is a bit intimidated by strange dogs. But housetrained, obedience trained, spayed, healthy, loving, athletic. Would make a fabulous companion for adults without young kids. Called "Kasse" and is a full sibling to Delphi and Denali, daughters of Stano and Waldana, all of whom you can see on the "our dogs" page.

The other one is not quite a year, from the "I" litter born last February. Sibling to Ishtar and Ieauan, who are pictured on the "our dogs" page. She's spayed, housetrained, obedience trained. Great companion but her current owners feel she has too much energy for their activity level and they want to return her. I can't seem to convince them that she's a puppy and she'll settle down in a few more months.

I'm buried with what I have myself and would not be doing these dogs any favors to bring them home, so am hoping to re-home them direct from their current owners. I have several other adult dogs available from among my own here at home, but I want to concentrate on these two young ones who need a home immediaely. Any and all help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance-

Beth Dorton
Hollow Hills/ vom hohlen Huegel Shepherds

If interested please send Cricket a EM or PM and I will be happy to give you the Link to their Kennel. They have some very lovely dogs & pups there. A lot of German in their Lines which, produce a roached back. Something I particularly do not like seeing but it's not a fault. These dogs are Shutzhound Trained meaning attack Trained. Great Watchdogs!

:}^ Peetie, how is your cat that you had to take to the Vet?
Hope that is nothing too serious! :(

Just checked the owl cam and Mama is rolling an egg that looks like it has a small hole in it :^: Some squawking going on too. Dad is still doing the one legged stand with his back to the camera.

I really have to go do some stuff now so see you all later Peeps.

Topa: you're welcome to borrow my Weber...

It's sound like a good idea, but the last Cruzer Event at the Lake we had soooo much very delicious food.
The barbeque really isn't necessary.
I'm just hungry today. Feed a cold , starve a fever.

Just a couple of points from someone that does a LOT of nest observations ... and has done from when we first started watching the PH nest in June, 2006. When this forum was born.

Cruz was already at the banding stage ... so we had missed all the egg laying, incubation etc ... and she fledged on July 14th.
So we only saw her for a few weeks, as she took off on her travels very quickly ... unlike her brother Limuw in 2007 who liked his home comforts.

So at that time members were only interested in ONE nest. We did not know about the TH or WE nests at that time.

2007 we had 3 nests to observe .. PH .. TH and WE

2008 there were 5 nests to observe ... PH .. TR .. TH .. SR and WE.

This year we may have 7 with the addition of MR and RS ... although some of the nests are not being used at present.

We have thought about how we can observe all the nests .. to give the best information.

A separate thread for each nest? ... sounds good ... except when all the nests are active and you are trying to get the information down ... how the heck can you be sure that you are in the correct nest’s thread to post!

None of us can sit at the computer for every hour of the day ... although believe me you would not want to know how many hours I .. and some others .. by choice .. do actually spend there! So when members do post there and continue to add to the ‘story’ of each nest that does help us to take breaks ... do chores whatever ... and be able to come back to NW and read through who is where and what happened. Continuity is the key.

So that is how the pages add up. NW starts as soon as the nests are visible around 6:00am - 6:30am ... until darkness descends at 6:00pm ... ... and some cams go off.

We started AEATT so that we could add our ‘favourite 10’ per nest. Each nest has it’s own thread for all the different stages throughout the season.

There are also threads ... that I am trying to keep up to date .. for those nests that are not on cam. Pinnacle Rock and the Northern Channel Islands SC and SR.

I know that Anibird/Annie always goes there to catch up on events. She was the one that requested the Breaking News thread ... which is a pinned and closed thread at the top of Nest Observations/Nest Watch ... and the moderators post in there if anything usual/different to the norm or eventful .. such as the First egg on TH .. takes place during a day where there are a lot of pages. So the biologists know where to go for information if time is limited.

Jann and I also try to keep the calendar updated too.

This forum was created to encourage folks to learn more about Bald Eagles .. and to post what they saw happening on that one nest on Santa Cruz Island.

We have all become eagleholics and have created ... in my opinion ... one of the best Bald Eagle Resources not only for biologists but for everyone.

Yes ... the pages on Nest Observations do add up ... because the folks that post on there are enjoying watching the nests and are sharing that enjoyment with others that may not be as fortunate to be able to watch during any given day or time.

It is all about choice. You watch the nests .. and comment on what you see. Or you do not watch the nests .. for whatever reason .. and play catch up later.

We all do our best ... the videos and captures started because we didn’t want a couple of members who were going on vacation to miss Cruz fledging.

And so it began ....

Just a few thoughts ... from your Nestorian.

Topa: A lot less work to NOT bbq for sure....the offer still stands if things change. Just give me a little warning so I can have my slave son clean it up first. I know you'll all be well fed no matter what you do.

I figure the Operation took an hours for George, therefore he should be in PACU for another 20 minutes or so. Then on his way home, which could take another hour from HUP.

Tri-tip sandwiches does sound good. You have a slave son..

Maybe when our Cruzer events go for an entire weekend , we'll revisit the barbeque idea.
