Absolutely beautiful Linda! You'd love the forest in Nairobi, they have the most beautiful butterflies I've ever seen! :D And exactly what lens did you use to capture that?

That's what she said....

and I also found this on her blog

"I am Dutch, I am an artist and a saddle-maker"....

maybe that explains her calling it a "Bald American Eagle" rather than an "American Bald Eagle"

The head of the eagle and such looks like it is carved...I'm not sure if the wings are wood or leather...

Love the fact you have all those pond critters just outside your door Carole. Thanks for sharing them with us every day :)^

Thanks Jann :Hugs: back

Always a joy to see your photos too Linda. The stories you have to go with each one always make me :D

Mr and Mrs. Goose , you two are taking some awesome wildlife shots too. Glad you saved my rather squeamish sensibilities from the graphic dining shots  We know it's nature... I can watch Betty barn owl eating her spaghetti because it is mostly black/white and shades of grey. I can't stomach the really bl**dy stuff. :o

okay GEORGE this is awesome pic...but...what i ment and have in my mind that when you make this pic with a wide lens how much do you see more at the same pic ???

the squirrel and the tail from the bird for example ???

btw i do yes and no understand your explain in your mail you send me...

it's so pitty (like my ds) that i must have "see" examples.....

but i'm appreciate what you explain to me...you ROCK
thanks a lot.....(i hope that i don't offend you cause you're doing so much your best to explain to me)

ok here is a brief learning exercise

you are at the beach and want to take a shot of that tiny little boat on the horizon as you look out to see

So you have you camera and its 35 mm lens and you snap a shot of the boat
You have the boat right in the middle of the frame and also 20 miles of horizon to the left and right of the boat you shot so with this lens you are seing roughly 40 miles of the horizon

Unhappy you then pull out your 200mm lens and again shoot the boat centered in your viewfinder. however this time the boat is larger and you are only seeing 10 miles of horizon to the left and right of that boat you are watching from the shoreline

Finally you take out the huge lens and again shoot that same boat who has very convieniently stayed at anchor on the horizon. This time you See the boat to the extent that you can almost make out Hms Titanic written on it while filling up alot more area of your viewfinder but less of the horizon to the left and right of the boat. This being an even smaller angle formed by the camera and the edges of the area you have in frame. This is why they call a 35mm a wide angle as you are seeing a wider field of view thru the lens than a telphoto which shows a narrower field of view of the horizon in frame and much larger

AS the length of your lens goes up along you only are covering a smaller and smaller portion of the horizon line you are viewing. This is what they sometimes call a field of view. Telephotos have a narrower angle of view than a short 18mm for example

MARIE & SANDIE I feel a little better this afternoon. Don't know why. Spoke to my sister, Joan, and she said I waited too long to quit smoking. Made me feel really good hearing that, but I already said the same thing. Was very dizzy this morning again. Having pain in both knees now. Bell did a head to both knees last night and just about knocked me over. Went shopping again for tonights dinner, and rode in the chair again. Ken's so funny he asked if I had it turned on. It was very slow! The ones in Ga. must have a Super Charger on them. I get around the Commissary in no time.

George so do you think you will be ok for the Wednesday after the Flower Show opens to go there 3/11/?? If so I will order the tickets Online and they will be less expensive.
