So this is wierd. I just checked on the reflexology chart online and the point where my foot is hurting is for the eye!!! Do you think it has something to do with my eyelid drooping. Or because of the surgery? Wow....very strange. |

Perhaps I can suggest that the photography related discussion be moved to the dedicated photography thread? Since this is new (and is down in the pictures and videos section) not everybody may be aware of it. It would be best I think if the moderators could just move those posts over there rather than folks copying them over themselves? |

Thanks George. DH likes that the heron is parallel to the tree branch too. I personally like the vivid color of the heron in this shot. Goose has taken many shots of blue herons as we can easily find them locally. He practices taking photos of flying birds but he really prefers to take phots of flying quads racing around the track. |

I have also posted the gist of my replies there from earlier today to cover all the bases. I have no intention of monopolizing so much space however. I think i should offer an explaination. When i was a new camera buff as a jr hs kid i would often go into a nearby camera store and ask questions. The folks there were very helpfull and sometimes would give me a good deal on something or give me some item that was discarded such as a filter. While i never worked in the photo retailing business, in hindsight i appreciated them taking me under their wing as i began to explore the fun of photography. To return their kindness to me as a newbie i became a host in the old AOL YGP community hosting chats and tending some of the message boards, I feel as if in some small way i am helping to propegate the faith of those who like photog and will attempt to help any who asks me if i am able. While some may think that thiers is just "a dumb question" , i must point out that no matter how long one has taken photos we too have more than likely asked those sort of questions that may seem obvious today but were not when we too were a newbie. The only dumb questions are those we never ask or only ask when its too late and have made some mistake |

George, I'm surprised you have heard of Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville. We live 15 minutes from there but have only ever attended a few races. By quads we mean ATV's. My nephew raced in the atv national series and Goose enjoyed working on his quad and taking photos of the races. My nephew no longer races but we traveled all over the country to watch the national events and still like to go to races to do photo journalism.

Nice shot of the ATV in the air! That does sound like a nice challange to try to shoot those events. Hmm gonna have to add that to my "must shoot" list if i get the chance. It would be there along with the trip over to jersey to go shoot at teh cowtown rodeo in woodstown nj. Odd isnt it that they have professional rodeo in south jersey. It just doesnt seem to fit with what most think is new jersey. Grandview isnt that long of a ride from Newtown square here. Remember John E Dupont the hier who shot that wrestler at his home? well he was my former neighbor. I am often up in that neck of the woods when i go shooting at French Creek. There is a free rifle and pistol range on state game land there where i go to shoot my ww2 and earlier military rifles at paper targets. I do not hunt though. |

![]() Judy/URDOGNU, wishing you an absolutely wonderful day! To All of you who were kind enough to remember my birthday. Especially since I've not been here very much for a while. I would list you all but there are so many, I don't want to leave anyone out, and you know who you are. It reminds me of the feeling of warm hearted camaraderie that first made me fall in love with this forum and all the lovely people I found here almost two years ago. And I didn't just drop in with the Lantern video yesterday because it was my BD today. I would have done it whatever day it had been. Thanks Harpo, Peetie and others who asked yesterday about DH and I. He still struggles with his health issues and my BP is rising with the stress of work and the approaching move, not to mention the dire state of the economy, environment, and world in general lately. But life goes on.Here are a couple of tid-bits of possible interest I wanted to share that you might enjoy, especially those who will be visiting Catalina soon. One a summary of a talk radio show on Haunted Catalina, and another an actual photo of a Fireball DH and I witnessed in January that over 50 others also saw and reported to the Fireball Reporting website. Haunted Catalina "In the first hour (“Coast to Coast AM” radio show hosted by George Noory @ www.coasttocoastam.com, on Friday February 13, 2009), Rob & Anne Wlodarski talked about the ghostly and haunted happenings on Catalina Island. "Most of the restaurants and hotels fronting Crescent Street in the main part of Catalina, almost all of them are haunted," Rob said. The island acts as a portal to other dimensions, they pointed out, noting how this may account for the isle's paranormal activity. The Wlodarskis recounted an experience they had while touring the Catalina Country Club. According to Anne, whenever they entered the kitchen area a baby in their group would begin crying. Anne wondered what the little one may have been seeing as this happened three different times during the tour, she added. They also said the ghost of a Chicago Cubs baseball player from the 1920s has been seen there. According to Rob, people on the island have also reported seeing deceased actress Natalie Wood walking down a road toward the Harbor Reef Restaurant, where she ate her final meal. Rob stayed on during the second hour to share more about his paranormal investigations and take calls from listeners. Joe in Minnesota phoned in with his strange tale from Catalina Island. He recalled walking into an empty casino with his buddy and hearing the sounds of a big band that he could not see." This is a photo of the Fireball DH and I saw in January, photographed from San Diego, California by a photographer shooting the Sunset at the time, to give an idea of how far and widely it was seen. We saw it very close seeming and with a long tail, going left to right looking South, this photo is looking North from two to three hundred miles South of us. On the website linked above it's report #43 and we're the fourth or fifth to have logged our report on that page. ![]() Thanks again so much for all the wonderful Birthday wishes and lovely images. Have a great night Everyone, and enjoy the Oscars if you're watching them like I am (DH couldn't care less about the Oscars but I have control of the Remote today.) Edit: I knew I was forgetting to mention a couple of things! Trish! Thank you for Popo! She was looking magnificent earlier wasn't she, covered with snow and sapphire sky against white clouds! I'm so glad Mom is through her surgery and hopefully on the mend now. And, Sara! I was so surprised to see my Sammy painting! How sweet you remembered it. Good night again.

PBS has an old John Denver special on and on this one, he was in Australia, singing Rocky Mountain High. His ex-wife explained that they went up in the mountains, just below the tree line, about 10,000 ft. in the middle of Aug. to watch the meteor showers. They were so close and it was so dark that they saw everything. Hence, the line, "I saw fire in the sky..." But the line I never noticed before was this one. He was talking about people scarring the mountains and he sang: "I'd be a poorer man, if I never saw eagles fly. . ".

Elaine, how beautiful...my mom was from West Virginia, and she loved his "Country Roads" song. The eagle over the snowy peaks, is just beautiful. Thank you! |
