Here's a few pictures Goose (DH) took yesterday as we drove through Valley Forge State Park. The redtail hawk had just swooped down and caught the mouse and landed in the tree to eat it. He took pictures of the hawk eating his catch but they are a little gruesome.

Nice shots! Here my resident red tail loves the gray squirrels.

Valley forge is not a state park but a National Historic Park. The state transferred the park over to the National Park Service in 1976 if memory serves me.

Just think, in a couple of months all the dogwoods will be in bloom at Valley Forge National Historic Park. That time of year is always a great shooting oportunity for those of us who are cameraholics. Its funny, even though i am so close i have never made it up there just to shoot. In april and may many local philly area school classes go on field trips to it. This makes it somewhat of a challange to get shots without those yellow school busses in frame. I will have to get up there one of these days early in the morning or later in the afternoon to try and get the true beauty of the park without the human clutter.

Sorry, but in my former carreer i was a Park Ranger but not there at the other park in the middle of philly if that rings a bell rofl

He has a cannon 40D. He was using a 70-300mm lens yesterday. He wants a 400mm DO but doesn't want to part with $6,000.00.

Yes i was an NPS ranger at several parks in my 25 years of working for them. I sort of miss it but after the car that hit me at work injured me, i decided i could not handle the task and retired with my pension. I really had fun working when i joined the nps after college in 1981
