WOW....lots of wonderful photos today.

Penny
, the pictures you post every day of the Norfolk pair are simply breathtaking. I may not comment on them every day, but I love each and every one of them! <3 :Hugs: Thank you for sharing them with us each day! :><:

MrsGoose, your DH's pictures of the red tail and the dear are wonderful! I get so excited when I see wildlife in the wild, the way they're supposed to be. I find it so exciting that I'm seeing more hawks now than I did as a child.....or even a few years ago.

Trish, thanks for the update pics of Cheddar. What a sweetie.

And, Paula, I know you didn't take the pictures, but that eagle saddle is too much. Beautifully craftmanship, but I don't know I'd feel about actually using it. There must be some kind of story behind it?

Thanks, Eagle Duo. We're seeing more hawks in our area than we ever have before too. I think we've just become more aware of the wildlife in our area in general and enjoy looking for it.

Oh yeah.....I knew I was forgetting someone. Sorry, Carole! I always look forward to and love your pictures from your pond neighbors! The blue heron reflecting was my favorite until I saw the one of it in the grass preening or scratching or ??? Whatever it's doing, I love the picture! :><: Thanks for sharing your neighbors with us!

Well, just when you think you've seen it all something spectacular shows up !!! Paula, what is the story behind that awesome hand tooled Eagle saddle?  That had to be a total labour of love because the hours involved in carving that one must have been incredible.  :)^

I don't know...this is all the blog said

"The bald American Eagle, for those who haven’t seen it yet. Was an apprentice-project on a vintage tree. It’s basically an old-school eight-string saddle, with a hardly noticable mad-Aafke twist in the carving, making it look a bit like an American Eagle….. :D "

If the blog is updated with any more info, I'll let you know!

Edit - Aafke is the person's name who made it.

George you may want to consider traveling to Susquehannock State Park to see eagles instead of Valley Forge to see hawks. But actually both are nice day trips.

there is also an eagle couple nesting in the John Heinz national wildlife refuge by the airport

Here is a shot ive posted before of my local resident red tail. He was shot on my neighbors front lawn dining on a fresh squirrel. I was about 20 feet away from him to get this shot

Summer and Sasha and I went into the field yesterday..lots of wildflowers but we chased this butterfly forever and he finally landed.. (George, this was the MICRO lens that I leave on so much of the time) we liked his hairy little body!! :clk:

When they first emerge from the chrysalis their wings are wet and they are unable to fly for a while and will just sit there. Their legs are very prickly.

MrsGoose - :><: To MrGoose on all the beautiful wildlife photos.

LaLa
- Can't figure out why some of the turtles are so clean and others totally covered in pond scum. Guess they play in different areas.

Jann - The heron was preening and soaking wet to boot.

Paula
- That eagle saddle is a work of art.
