And a happy good morning to everyone! DH and I took DS (who is visiting) sightseeing and then to the China A (a huge new Chinese buffet in town ). Went back to DS hotel and talked until the wee hours. It is now 1:00 am. I'll get my licks in now by opening the Monday post... and sleep in! Went to the little party celebrating the lost dog being found! Amazing people! Will try to post sometime tomorrow. (Get your "Awwwwwwws" ready!) ![]() DS worked soooo hard and long to help find the dog and post "missing dog" flyers all over town - that we were invited up to their condo on the upper floor of the hotel, and they presented him with a little gift of a framed photo of the dog and a beautiful card. ------------------------------------- ![]()

Lala the couple from Virginia (?) were eliminated - she decided not to wait on the wind to change at the top of the mountain so walked down like nearly everyone else and missed an arrow. She ended up on the wrong side of the mountain and had to get a ride all the way back. They just couldn't quite catch up after that..... |

Eaglepedia Revisited: February 20, 2008 The eagle chooses a high spot so that they can see everything going on around them. They spend most of their day waiting for prey to pass by so it is very important that have a good view of the surroundings. Since the bald eagle has very few predators they have the freedom to build their nests out in the open without concern for being preyed upon. Being in the open also gives them the space they need to take off and come in for a landing. http://www.oodlesonbaldeagles.com/2007/04/...the-bald-eagle/ ![]() AND January 9, 2008 Describing Eagle Nests: The Visit and the View The one common denominator just about all eagle nests have in common, is the view: the view from a eagles nest is one of the most spectacular on earth - they certainly know how to pick the prime lookout spots. The nests themselves, once eaglets are born and a few weeks old, are completely flat across the top, contrary to what you might think of as a "bowl nest." They contain soft vegetation, and often fresh greenery such as white pine sprigs or some other leaves http://www.learner.org/jnorth/tm/eagle/NestAbout1.html ![]() Visit Eaglepedia DISCLAIMER: Information here has been gathered in good faith from the internet and cannot be guaranteed to be totally accurate. |

I got an email - did you get one too? MSRP Holds a Restoration Symposium For the first time ever, MSRP is holding a public event that will showcase all of the restoration work we have supported in the southern California region over the last several years. We will hear first-hand from the biologists and scientists that are completing the on-the-ground restoration work. Speakers will present on the four main topics of restoration that MSRP identified in their Restoration Plan. The topics include bald eagle, peregrine falcon, seabird, fishing, and fish habitat restoration. The symposium will be held on March 31st at the Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center Auditorium in Ventura, CA from 9:00am to 4:00pm. ![]()

Hello, everybody. Marti, what a nice gesture for the people to give your DS a photo of their tiny dog and a card. Glad there was a happy ending. Enjoyed the Amazing Race last night, and the Oscars. We especially liked the way the major awards were presented, with speeches given to recognize the contributions of each of the nominees. And Angelina's emerald earrings - wowee! My mother is having her knee replacement surgery as I type this. My sister is there with her this week, then I will go to stay with her next week. I think my mother will be glad when it is over, although she has to have the other knee done in four months. She has been in a lot of pain and should have had it done years ago. Enjoy your day, everyone, and happy eagle watching. |

SANDIE I just told him I was sick of going out every night. I have every Menu in the area memorized. He even said after diner you can't buy a meal this good! Guess he forgot he paid for it! All I did was to put it all together. Have to say the last two nights dinners were very good. I'm not one for singing my own song either. GEORGE get back to me and let me know if I should go ahead and buy the tickets for The Flower Show. I'm getting excited. Been so long. Peetie I'm sure you are going to see kitty today. Give him some lovin from the U.S.A. too. Did not watch the Show last night. Things like that just don't interest me. Off to work. |
