This is a New York Times article about Operation Migration (be warned - 7 pages long but very interesting and informative).

Our best friends in TX both in their seventies, had a trying six months. He got a double knee replacement. He went to physical therapy after a certain time. He told the therapist that he had more trouble bending one knee than the other.

The stupid therapist took over and bent the knee. Not good. I think he is finally doing better, but had a lot of swelling on the knee that was forced to bend... In fact, he felt a "pop".

After he was out of the hospital and walking with a cane, his wife lost her balance when the dog did a run by, and she broke her hip! He spent the next several weeks running back and forth from home to feed the animals every day - to the hospital to be with his wife. He was so worried about her that it forced him to move around more. She ended up with a hip replacement (her second). Both are doing well now and walking unassisted.

Cheryl, best wishes for your Mom (doing one knee at a time is smart) and watch those physical therapists. Hope you have a kinder, gentler one!

GEORGE get back to me and let me know if I should go ahead and buy the tickets for The Flower Show. I'm getting excited. Been so long.

My leg feels as if it would be able to go that week. However, I am not able to see the surgeon until march 9th to have the stiches taken out. I am being bothered by the huge ace bandage over the gauze wrap around the incisions. Today I have called the doctor's office to ask if i would be able to remove the mummy like wrapping and replace that with a gauze pad securely taped in place which would make it then possible to actually put on a real pair of pants instead of the one pair of sweat pants that i wear now

I definitely want to go to the show. I appreciate your offer to procure the tickets but there could be the potential of me not being able to properly "dress forthe occasion" or being told that it may not be a good risk to change the way the incisons are covered.

I think it is best if i take care of the ticket for me so as not to have you holding a ticket that i would be unable to use. I dont want to see somebody shelling out 24 bucks for a ticket on my behalf that i may not be able to use. It would be prudent for me to get my own ticket at the last moment when I am more certain of being able to go.

So if we go the wednesday mid show, i could get the ticket there or at one of the supermarkets who is also selling them the day before This way makes sure the ticket will be used so that the $24 ticket cost isnt thrown in the trash.

I think the wednesday of march 4 would be the best day to go too as there wouldnt be the crowds like there are at the opening and the last weekend when the show closes.

MARTI the popping sound the person heard was probably an Adhiesion. I had that too with my shoulder and hip. It feels better after it pop's. I still get them it's scar tissue.
