I have not read all of Chat today, and I apologize if this link has already been posted. Some of you may remember the mountain lion incident here in Ventura County few days ago? It was published in the newspaper today that the lion that was shot was a 6 week old cub that weighed 15 pounds http://www.venturacountystar.com/news/2009...lice-was-a-cub/ |

I'm eggcited X 2 today.... K26 laid her first egg of 09. I really really tried to get the boat captain to go to Santa Cruz today instead of Anacapa but oh well at least I could see it pretty good. Had I only knew there was an egg!! Of course I was talking about our eagles. One of the volunteers said wasn't that incredible about that woman in NY that called about the babies being grabbed out of the nest....uh Harpo....you're famous. They had two volunteers on board today telling us about the whales. I did not know that they swin 24/7 with out sleeping (how do they know that???). They use 1/2 of their brain to swim and the other half to rest (how do they know THAT). I'd like to sign up for that talent! Oh wait I do that already. Oh we did see whales. Two actually. The captain kept trying to get my attention and finally he popped out the top and shouted to me "your lens cap is still on" I couldn't see!!!!I thought about the idea of doing that volunteer thing until I got home and realized it isn't good for my back and leg. I'm putting a deposit down on a place tomorrow

Oh I made Lala's casserole and brought it with me. I goofed tho and picked up heavy cream instead of 1/2 & 1/2. And I used cinnamon swirl bread instead of french bread. It turned out really great. I'm watching LOST and I AM lost!! |

Topa: I don't know what the red flower is. I didn't know what the other one was either until I searched for Fiesta Flower. I thought it was interesting that it's found on the Channel Islands....pretty cool. I don't know many wild flowering things....my focus in school was more on indoor ornamentals....interior landscaping. |

I found this lovely photo at sfgate.com with the following caption: "America's symbol moves to Florida: A bald eagle guards its nest, containing two eaglets, in Pembroke Pines, Fla. It's the first known nesting of the raptor in Broward County since the early 1970s."
