George, I just noticed your Cruzers heroes icon in your signature. How cute is that? That was a great show way back when. You are a very nice man and have fun at the flower show.

 omg, what has happened, i sign back in to everyone arguing about a bird. I'm glad that I only know how to type. I have no idea how to put anything on my little note. Can't we all just get along. Maybe we need more oxygen since we seem to be flyin to high. Life's to short to sweat the small stuff. I'm just glad I'm not laid up in bed anymore. Had a fairly good day back at work, Hope everyone has a better day tomorrow. :D eagleaddict

yes we all need to stop and hold ourselves responsible for what we ALL do in here to make it this way.Takes us all to argue and all to stop. Silveregal I am not sure what you are taking about in Photobucket. Email it to me please so we take this off the forum please.

Hey Ian seems you have the magic touch looking for a good price on things. I want to find a Panasonic but I forget the model. Where'd you find yours? Can I use your resources?

Actually as far as finding a good price is concerned, my main resource was something callled "google" :P Most of the work was in figuring out exactly what I was going to go for, and I went to the local camera stores to figure that out as well as asking lots of questions here and a couple of other places. Once I decided I was going to get the Canon, I checked a couple of the local camera store sites and a couple of ones others had sent me. The store I found happened to be another local store I came across by searching on google for prices on that camera.

There were some stores in other places in Canada that I could possibly have ordered from online if they had had the best price, but conveniently it turned out the store was local so I just walked in and got it in person.

Well, we just spent the wad today. DH has been wanting a flat screen TV for a long time...everyone has one nowdays...we're always the last one to get with the times and since he does enjoy his TV, today was the day. He has been preparing the old cabinet for a week now, measuring and re-measuring, checking prices, etc. The new SONY TV along with assorted cables, wires and Monster Power Strips were laid out on the floor this afternoon. Grandson came in, looked at the mess and took off for the computer with a banana, a brownie and a dish of ice cream. Occasionally, he'd poke his face around the corner, and wonder if it was all hooked up yet. After a couple of hours DH announced "Yes" and Grandson just said "Cool"...really made DH's day since he isn't much of a techno guy.

I am going to shop around a bit to find a good price on it -

Would you let me know. The white ones are very expensive..

I tried to find the camera tech thread again.I'm sorry I need the link.

The EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS is going to be ballpark in the $1500 (CAN) range or so - although I'm pretty sure I'll be able to find it a bit cheaper than that. If you want more details on it perhaps we could do that in the photography thread.

Ian, out of curiosity, what are you going to use your new camera for... do you have specifiic nests you are watching?? can't wait to see the first images.... :><: :clk:

No specific nests (although there are the couple of nearby peregrine nests, although those might be challenging even for a fairly powerful telephoto lens). I'll be looking for the red-tails and kestrels and maybe owls and whatever else I can find though.

I'm going to be looking forward to next fall's migration too, since I should be able to take some pictures of the migrating birds, while that was a nearly impossible exercise with the point & shoot camera.
