Ian, out of curiosity, what are you going to use your new camera for... do you have specifiic nests you are watching??  can't wait to see the first images.... :><:  :clk:

No specific nests (although there are the couple of nearby peregrine nests, although those might be challenging even for a fairly powerful telephoto lens). I'll be looking for the red-tails and kestrels and maybe owls and whatever else I can find though.

I'm going to be looking forward to next fall's migration too, since I should be able to take some pictures of the migrating birds, while that was a nearly impossible exercise with the point & shoot camera.

you will have good results with this set up. In the old days when hosting a camera chat ,folks would ask what they should get. I always suggested to them that it was not necessarily what they intend to shoot with it today, whatever it is,, but what they may want to shoot with it next month or next year.

I would bet the farm that any of us who has had a camera, (film or digital) are not shooting the same things that we shot when we started out . This is why many refert to it as a Canon , nikon , pentax SYSTEM. They are our wasit lines when we've been eating too many donuts. These systems too expand as or skills and experience grow based on all the photo shooting situtations we feed on. rofl

I love felix the cat!

<::: :<:: Felix the Cat, the wonderful, wonderful cat

Whenever he gets in a fix, he reaches into his bag of tricks

You'll laugh so much your sides will ache

Your heart will go pitter pat

Watching Felix, the wonderful cat.

One other cartoon feline who was fun too was good ole Krazy Kat with Ignatz Mouse which dates way back to the old sunday funnies in the paper

I see another great day on the nests. I have been watching the Starr Ranch Barn Owl cam and if you pop over there I think that you will see some of the familiar names from this thread. Raptorman has posted several times with great info. There are two owlets for sure and I think maybe a third. This time of the evening is fun to watch as prey is brought in regularly and feedings are taking place with a frenzy. The owlets have grown very quickly.

Take a look it is quiet over there

Felix the Cat was my favorite cartoon when I was a kid. I just loved the bags of tricks! He was always in a fix, and then he'd reach into his bag of tricks! Ah, those were the days!
