Thanks Deb, they are both so sweet, they are in my thoughts today. Am I crazy (watch it) or is there not a NO thread today. Or is my work computer playing tricks with me?

My son saw a pod of whales yesterday from Pacific Coast Highway and pulled over to watch.. they were relaxing in the kelp beds, laying on their sides and generally resting from their trip... mother whales do this so the young whales can rest up.. he said there were about 8 to 10.. and it was near the big sand slide that is on the mountain side of the highway...Ventura County... and his other report, on his car radio, was about a whale watching boat from down south, Dana Point or San Clemente... that was rammed by an angry whale... lifted the boat out of the water and put a hole in it... I am trying to find a story so will tell you more about it later... boats are to stay away from the whales and watch from a distance.. maybe this boat (45 foot) was too close for the whales liking.. |

Wow Linda, what a once in a lifetime sight! How fortunate for him to be there at the perfect time. The boat in Dana Point, eeekk. Many years ago sailing between Anacapa and Santa Cruz, a basking whale (basically called a Whale Shark) they're as big as a whale, it dove under us, and was scratching it's back on our keel! We hauled the boat out to see if there was any damage, just black skid marks from his skin. Once I walked out on the beach and saw a couple of whales offshore, breaching and then poof, they were gone. I bet he'll never forget that incredible sight. |

Kathie, I'm glad you got to see the egg. I was afraid the nest bowl was deep enough that we might not be able to see it or tell if there was another egg until hatching. |

The Norfolk nest is rocking like crazy today! It's hard to watch this cam. I wonder, can eagles get sea sick? Hope not! http://www.wvec.com/cams/eagle.html |

Me too, lmorton/Linda! I know there is an egg, K26 & K10 know there is an egg, everybody on the forum knows there is an egg - but I like to see these things with my own eyes before I'm ready to commit!
