George[/SIZE] this uncropped shot of Ma Norfolk was taken using a Whimberley 2 camera mount.

That head attaches to the tripod. The normal tripod for snapshooters is not much more than a pan head that allows you to raise or lower the camera and pan it around. The other type of head is a ball head to position the camera,

Now that wimberly is also called a gimbal head and is used for very heavy ,ane expensive lenses. to give you an idea that specific tripod head lists for 534.00 at one of my photo drooling store sites. The tripod is another expense and they can cost an arm a leg, er make that three legs, and ones first born depending on what one needs. I know somebody with the super fast canon 800mm L lens and that sort of head would be pefect for that 8000.00+ lens

EDITED OOPS! the canon 800mm f5.6 L lens is 10,700.00 and the 600mm f 4 L lens is 7000.00 NOT a lens most amatures would own and ones alot of professionals would rent for special shoots they are hired to do

JANNA Love all of the pictures you are Posting. The Eagle is just beautiful, as well as the Irish things.

George don't worry about my being late. I am always early and like you it's a Pet Peeve to be kept waiting.

If Duane Noblick thinks that is a "not worthy" shot I would be ashamed to post my pics! And his computer screen must be blurry cause that shot is NOT blurry to me at all

I think what he means is that it just isnt tack sharp. With super long lenses there is no real "fudge factor" to make sure everything of the subject is tack sharp.

With an 800mm lens focused on something say 100yrds away wide open you may have everything from 99 to 101 yards in focus. But if you stopped the lens down and were able to shoot at f22 you may have everything in focus from 80 to 110 yards sharp in focus. At f22 you have more "depth of field" than wide open

These numbers are determined by the focal length of the lens. The shorter the focal length the wider field of foucs for sharpness. The longer the lens the narrower the field of sharpness or depth of field.

I will try to unearth from my aol archives a basic introduction to the topic "Depth of Field" and post it

Oh i know, i just want to make sure i have enough time to walk there before your arrival. I think it may only be a short 25minute walk from my front door to there. Its been a while since ive actually timed it. Of course, i could hop the bus the last few blocks from two more lights up the road by Pacifico Ford. In fact the ford dealership is only two more lights up and my normal supermarket is just off to the left down in a hollow. Of course, I could meet you there in the parking lot of the A+ , but i thought the clown cottage would be easier to find.

Of course you can call me antyime and we can figure it out via phone to come up with the best way to do this.

On a totally different subject...our BC friends were in town last night.
They had flown into Vegas last week and rented a Toyota Prius Hybrid Car to take them everywhere they wanted to go. The total they spent on gasoline from Vegas to LA was...wait for it.....$7.00 !!!!

DH is now seriously thinking about a trade in

hmm the flower show is just a short wingspan away from the legendary 1400lb Bronze Wannamaker Eagle in the courtyard of Macys . That would be a must see for any cruzer meeting here in philly of course. But as we are natives we normally dont go there as often

My best friend is on her second Prius. We go to Vegas and fill up once. We often fill up on the way home so she'll have gas for the week. They're roomy, and fast. Someday. :<::
