Egads I thought i was the only one still conscious at this time of the morning. Its only 0450am here in philly and I am wide awake. Hmm maybe 26 or even Wray will have left a little white surprise for us this morning when the cameras come back up ?? :X: 4 :^: :^:

I will try to take shots of the two of us at the bloom fest in philly wednesday. It may take me some time in post production to adjust them in Photoshop Elements but I have every intent of sharing. Who knows, i may also toss out some hockey shots too from wednesday night. Then after hockey season and the games at the soon to be demolished spectrum end it will be time for shots of the World Series Champion Philadelphia Phillies and spring! :clk: :clk: :clk: :clk: (my shutter finger is already spasming in eagerness already and its not even march yet) rofl

Good Morning Cruzers

We’re heading out to check the eagle nests today. It sounds like the weather may give us a problem today but with an early start we may get some sun before the clouds move in. We’re heading down to Susquehannock State Park, Conewingo Dam and if the weather holds out we may run down to Black Water. The DH has the cameras loaded and ready to go. Hope to post some pictures tonight.

Cant wait to see whatever images you are able to get. I think the blackwater site said that the start of this years blackwater eagletts should be starting to come out of their shells starting yesterday. So you may make it down there just intime for the blessed event of :^: :X:

Note: please keep in mind when posting photos/pictures and your signature - some forum members only have dial up access and it can take a very long time for all the graphics to download/open on their computer.

That's one of the reasons we ask follks to be considerate and try not to "quote" posts over and over - it takes a lot of time to reload for our dial up friends!

Most of us are on cable feeds and we easily forget that some are not - so just asking you to tuck that into the back of your brain and be kind to your Cruzer friend who wants to be able to read and view and share too!

thanks :Hugs: <3

Eaglepedia Revisited:

January 7, 2008

How can a pair of Bald Eagles possibly build that huge nest and still have time to lay eggs, incubate them, and raise the babies in a single breeding season? The answer is, they don't! Throughout the season, and sometimes even during fall and winter, eagles keep adding sticks to the nest, and they reuse nests, continuing to build on to them, for many years. In most regions, a pair of eagles starts working on their nest from 1 to 3 months before the female lays the first egg. However, in the northern regions they can't delay this long. For example, according to Birds of North America, "In Saskatchewan, adults build or repair nests in September prior to migration and build or repair nests in April upon return from wintering grounds."

AND

January 6, 2008

Bald eagles and other large eagles build their nests to last. The main part of the nest is usually made of big sticks. Many types of eagles use the same nest year after year, and every year the nest gets larger. Once a nest is built, it may be used by pairs of eagles for a very long time - perhaps hundreds of years on some cases. As one pair of eagles dies, another pair may take over and continue to add to the nest. In this way, some nests may get to be as big as a small truck. Some type of eagles, may have two or three nests. But they only use one at a time. The area of the nest that will be used for raising chicks is usually lined with leaves, or something else that is soft. Finding a safe place is the main thing when eagles build a nest. If there are no tall trees around, many eagles will build their nests high up on the sides of cliffs.
