PHALKS---How exciting for you both! You may very well be correct that it was K70! And if it wasn't--you still had a delightful encounter with a Juvie--they are so beautiful in their plumage! Thank you for describing your adventure to everyone here! :><:

EXCITING NEWS!!!.  A surprise egg was laid at the Saanich nest today!

  Egg Laid At Saanich

It's early this year - the last couple of years it hasn't been until late March that they've laid.  :><:

Thanks for posting that Ian. I wasn't even watching that nest yet because I thought they weren't really around much  Good for Skipper to catch the egg laying....it seems to be a bit of an epidemic lately

 Ma shows Pa their first egg in 2009.

If that juvenile had some white coming in on the head as described I think it would be a bit too old to be K70? K70 was just hatched this last year wasn't he?

Ian, the Naturalist thought this was a three year old eagle... wish it had stayed longer... makes me want to go back this week...but rain is coming.....also, would like to rent a boat as we spent way too much time looking at nests that we could not see into... we wanted to go straight East and see the Bald Eagle area.. which we finally did, ending in the Juvie sighting. :)^ The boat driver/naturalist did point out things we would never have seen, including the eagle in some dead trees.. but it took off right away and we didn't get any good still photos...

Chris C a Cruzer in chat who does not post much, lost her sweet baby bird today when the dog got her and she was very upset today. This happened after she went to a funeral. I am so sorry my friend. :(
