So excited that we now have another egg in the PH nest. I hope this year we don't have so much abuse by the larger of the babies. I know it's nature, but hard too watch. Wonder if #10 & #26 will change there tactics this year in regards to leaving the little one unattended. Hopefully the intruder from last year has flown the coop. On a brighter note. Have a great day eagleaddict

I saw George's posts yesterday and did not equate 2 + 2 until we got up this AM to a light dusting of snow on the ground! Hmmmmmmmm so with raised eyebrow ... we finally turned on the TV and HOLY COW They are saying thru tomorrow - we are expected to get 10-12" of snow! Yes - a FOOT of snow!!!! So we are heading to the store to get a couple items before everyone else realizes what the forecast is...... hehehe and make sure we have gas for that snow blower! Next time I'll pay closer attention to George ....... Snow has already hit the south --- so if you are getting it now or it's coming your way = be safe!

that's why we have moderators - they can fix anything you might do - and I've done my share (and still do) we're gonna run out and get a bite to eat and then some groceries and gas! then back home so ES can study for that certification test! he's working on LEEDS - green building design certification - test the day before we head to CA!

Eaglepedia Revisited January 22, 2007 The shape, the branches and the strength of the tree that will support the massive nest are all important factors. The weight of the bald eagle's nest though, will eventually cause most trees to collapse but other trees withstand the strain for very long periods of ime. The life of a nest in Alaska is around 20 years! The eagles will prepare a small "hollow" in the center of the nest and lining material which is where the eggs will be laid. After the eggs and chicks arrive, fresh lining material will be brought to the nest which may help to inhibit parasites which may attack the chicks! The fresh covering may also help keep the nest tidy of the fish scales and food waste as well as soiling by the youngsters. ![]() AND February 18, 2008 Bald Eagles build large nests to live in and raise their young. One way the bald eagle adapts to its environment is by using the resources available in that environment to build his nest. Even though a bald eagle in Florida may have different materials available to make a nest than that of a bald eagle in Alaska, the bald eagle is able to build a nest that is suitable to its surroundings. http://www.oodlesonbaldeagles.com/2007/04/...the-bald-eagle/ ![]() (for those who haven't seen this photo before - do you know where this nest is?) Deb, I love that photo and I can see that it's close to a bridge and a city in the distance. Where is it? |

That looks like the picture of the eagles at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. That building you see is where they store the space shuttles. That nest is close to the road that the tour bus takes when you do the tour there. That nest is HUGE and has survived several direct hits from hurricanes. |
