after troughing here , i stuck my snout out my front door to see that the :flk: :flk: has started to fall here in the sw philly burbs. Just a few flakes here and there but it looks like it is starting to gear up for the overnight period here. 6 to 10 inches still forcast here by the local tv weather geeks

Its this sort of fun that makes me glad i retired from the NPS and dont have to do the third shifts this time of year anymore. The ride home tomorow mornign would have been "interesting". I was very lucky during my tenure in philly to live in a good location. I only rarely had to actually drive to work. I had the option of either walking or driving to the bus stop and taking public transit in or driving a little farther and parking at one of 2 different commuter rail lines and hopping the train into philly. Considering the cost of gas, auto insurance, maitenance and of course the imfamous parking lot fees it was a big savings. I guess there are "Some" who refuse to even consider it because they cant not being able to go when they want to go and love paying for the convienience.

Getting off the soap box, sorry for the ranting

:<:: frosty the snowman .........

GEORGE it hasn't started here again yet. What we got overnight had melted. We will be going out shortly for a trip to Rite Aid for my Blood Pressure Med., and my Lipitor. Will probably start while we are out.

Jann loved your clip of K-10 doing the Hornby Wiggle. He looks so cute doing it. Thanks for sharing that with us.

With eggs on all 3 nests, we've had a few questions about the term "Hornby Wiggle" - a term we use frequently in NW. It originated with the famous Hornby eagles....... the first pair that many of our forum members watched. All eagles do a wiggle when settling down on their eggs.....some more than others. Dad Hornby & K10 are two of the best. In case you're not sure what it is, here's a video I did 2 years ago of K10 doing the Hornby Wiggle. These are all done by K10 on the same day.

The Hornby cam is up again this year so there may be a chance to see the Hornbys doing their signature wiggle, although it's not quite laying time for them yet :X:

Here's Dad Norfolk going after a banded juvie to chase him out
of the area...some think it just may be one of their own triplets from 2007.

and here are the poor parents today dealing with some really bad weather while doing
an incubating exchange in the downpour. Mom shakes off the accumulation but doesn't
leave until she makes sure Dad has the eggs covered...she also does 'nestwork'
What a Mom !!!!

I had been debating as to whether i should post this or not. There is a site with great information regarding wildlife photography with forums and even some usefull information on it.

On the photo and video thread board i did post a link regarding the "Sunny 16 Rule for exposure" that might be of use should anyone still shoot film or who doesnt trust their cameras metering system.

I had only recently discovered the site but others may want to also explore it as well just type into your browswer "Photomigrations" dot (three letter extension starting with the letter C)

i
Well, i dont want to do anything that doesnt follow the proper VCOE protocols to make them get mad at me do i?? :<::

In honor of 'Pig Day' today, here's a cute video link a friend sent me recently

Kris, I LOVED that little piglet. It just made me laugh watching him running around.

Me too rofl rofl rofl and who knew a little piglet like that could be so brave and just walk straight into the ocean and start swimming. :><: :><: :><: I didn't know pigs could swim either :D

Looked like the cat wasn't too enamored with him though :<:: He sure knows how to squeal when he needs some help getting up the shiny stairs too. :)^
