Cute pic of the chick and the hatching egg!

And I feel really bad for that fox. He must have really ticked off the eagle to make it do that. rofl

Well, thanks for such a fun snow day! Back to school tommorow for me. See you all tomorrow! :}^

It's going to take me a while to get caught up here but I have read and was enthralled by the eagle story you posted, Penny! ' “I like to think Patty is out there still with her 'older man' having a wonderful life,” Gibson concluded.'  Me too.... :D

Kathie that was Paula who posted the amazing eagle story and Vicki who made the 'older man' comment :D

Even though I have seen that Juvie Eagle vs the fox photo before, it really is just the most awesome image. :)^ Hard to believe the fox didn't even suffer some ill effects from those lethal talons either :o

ED did you watch that bird show?  we saw the rest - it was very interesting!!

We sure did. It was very interesting. Some of it was pretty graphic, wasn't it? But well worth watching cuz the information was super! We recorded it and the one on sharks. Haven't watched the shark one yet.

Going out to walk the dog now before the start of The Bachelor I just checked and it seems that it will be a 3 hour show???? Really, that seems overly long unless the last hour is all about the dumped one(s)

I still think neither of the two finalists is suitable for him and since I never saw The Bachelorette, I don't know a thing about Deanna except that she dumped him :o what a bad move on her part.

Just wanted to check in and let you all know that dh made it through his surgery. The doc said the surgery went well and there was no indication that the cancer had spread out of the prostate., which was the best possible news. We will know more when the pathology report comes back, later this week. He is pretty sore, and the attempt at getting him up and walking didn't go well a couple of hours ago - he became light-headed and they sat him back down. I suspect by the time I get there in the morning they will have had him out and about. They began a transfusion with the self-donated blood. I don't think it was necessary, but as long as they had it, they said it will be good for him. I wouldn't be surprised if they release him by tomorrow evening.

Thanks again for all the thoughts, prayers, candles and support from all of you. It really does help to know you are out there.

I am so happy that all seems well with the Blackwater chick and the hatching egg. I felt so badly for those eagles last night, sitting on the eggs while being covered with snow. Nature is simply amazing, isn't it?

Peetie, not knowing your complete history an off the wall question came to my mind. Does your periods of ups and downs happen regularly around the same time of year?? Espeically during the long dark winters? There is a condition called SAD "seaonal affective disorder" which seems to happen to northern europeans during the darker winter months. This depressive feeling may just be due to the longer darker winter nights. If so there are very effective and non chemical treatment options that may work to solve this. Just a thougth that crossed my already cross mind.

George...I have heard of this. They say its from a lack of UV light. People that have it just need to install some UV lights in their house and they get better. I saw a program on tv about it once and it was about people in Alaska because of the 6 months of night and 6 months of day. Not sure if that is what Peetie's problem is but hopefully she will find out soon and be able to get it treated as easily.

Oops! Sorry Paula! Got my "P"s mixed up! Thanks for the wing up, Penny. But the quote is not Vicki's. It's from the story Paula posted.....

Did you get a chance to look at the whole series of eagle vs fox pics? The fox was having a nice meal, minding his own business when this pushy golden eagle decided to horn in on the grub. When the fox tried to defend his meal, the eagle grabbed him. Can you imagine being in the right place at the right moment to capture something like that on film? Awesome...

As usual, I'm the last one to post pictures from any event and I don't have many. As you know, a few of us went on a little cruise of Lake Cachuma yesterday and saw this juvenile eagle as well as lots of other wildlife. Due to a series of technical difficulties I am left with very few of the hundreds of shots I took.

Here is the link to the Picasa album for the ones I was able to salvage -

Cahuma Pix

Kathie...I am sorry you lost so many pics but the ones you salvaged are awesome! That one with the loon (I think that is what it is) following the other one is hilarious! The one behind has its beak open and looks like its going to bite the other one's butt rofl "Get outta my way!" rofl rofl Glad you had a great time!

LINDA--GREAT NEWS! So happy for your DH that the surgery went well and that the prognosis looks good too!
You have had a stressful day Linda and you must be so relieved with what the surgeon had to say. Immediate post-op is always rough --for most any surgery type--your guy will do better each day now. I said a prayer for you both this morning.

Wishing you a good nights sleep tonight, as I am sure neither you nor he slept well last night in anticipation of today. Again, rest well tonight Linda :Hugs:

Janna .... All we know about the PH cam ... is what I posted earlier on NW.

That they are checking into the problem and working on it as fast as they can.

So fingers crossed they find the cause and we will soon be able to view one of our favourite nests asap.

I think a few of us had 'withdrawal' symptoms today! :(
