Sign me up, of course a Strawberry Margarita will be on my menu! Sure, we'll figure what time you want to meet there, and I'll be there, you can count on it. Heck, 3 minutes from your place, and 3 minutes from mine. Sounds like a plan!

Your comment, George, regarding you wanting to keep your trip secret reminds me of the first time I went back to PA to see my father...he knew I was coming. Well, little did I know that someone let the cat out of the bag and no sooner had I set foot in the house relatives descended on that little home coming from far and wide. This was a little town, mind you, so if soneone spills the beans the whole town knows within minutes. We all had a great time...none of the other family members had seen me before...felt like I was on display but that was OK....I felt like I was right at home. Maiden name was Kridle...don't think there are any other Kridles west of PA!!!...except for my brother, of course. Chiquita |

Well if there are any with that surname west of Pa., I would place a good bet on such locales as either Milwaukee Wisconsin or Deluth or Red Wing Minnesota. It is amusing to sometimes dig for names that are not that common. I think at the time my mother was born there were none with her first name but the only ladies with that first name "Alfhild" that i could find were, yes you guessed it, in Minnesota. Mom hates cold weather and thanks the stars that her father or mother never decided to go there when they got off the boat. I was digging through some old UK census data from 1910 and found My great granfather listed in their census taker sheets and while perusing a listing of welsh victorian era photographers i was astounded to find not only his name but also the address of where his studio was located in 1910. AINT THE INTERNET GREAT!!! Well, Pennsylvania if not mistaken still has the largest concentration of German Americans but i would have thought Wisconsin and Minnseota would have taken over. At the time of the Revolution and Constitutional Covvention in 1787 the most widely spoken language in Pa was german due to the migration of the Amish and Mennonites from persecution and the tolerance given to the persectuted by William Penn |

All this talk of Germany makes me long for Munich. Our son and DIL lived there for almost three years and our dear grandson, Martin, was born there. Of course we spent a LOT of time there as he was the first grandchild. We just loved Munich. I would walk to the local market everyday and shop. I don't speak German but I got by. We also took turns every morning running down to a local bakery to get fresh rolls. YUM! We did travel by train on day trips and took some weekend trips with the kids. Also spent some time in Oestrich-Winkel with DIL's family. A beautiful little village on the Rhine in wine country west of Wiesbaden. Our son and DIL were married in the Royal Greenhouse of the Summer Palace in Munich. I miss it a lot. Son, DIL and grandsons are leaving for Oestrich-Winkel in three weeks to visit family and immerse Martin in German in preparation for Kindergarten in a German immersion charter school in San Diego.Oh, dear. HAVE to go back to Germany soon. |

About all I know of Germany is the beautiful foil-wrapped chocolate Christmas ornaments that my aunt & uncle used to bring us when he was stationed in Wiesbaden (I think - I was very young). Funny, but I don't remember the chocolate as much as how pretty they were and that's pretty weird for a die hard chocolate addict like myself!

Bachelor -Ok since it has been all over the tv today I won't be letting any cat out of the bag. I'm confused, on the show last night he said they (he and Melissa) had spent all the holidays together. Then on Jimmy Kimbal he said he hadn't seen her since rose ceremony, that they signed a contract to have no contact except by phone until last nights show aired. What did I miss? |

Lauren, I thought the same thing. And they spent a few days after the rose ceremony, in New Zealand. I thought they wern't allowed to have contact till the final show. I think Jason is a complete idiot, and I feel sorry for his son, and the parade of women, Deanna, Melissa and icky Molly. I hope he lives alone with his son, he doesn't seem like a very nice guy to me after last nights show. |

Lakemaryeaglewatcher...My grandchildren began their French immersion in kindergarten and continued at their language school in San Diego until they began high school in 9th grade. A second language, no matter which one, is so important now days. DH is Italian but when grandparents came from Italy they did not encourage the speaking of their native language in America, after all, they said it was important to learn the new language. I know DH wishes somewhere along the line the language could have been continued. Anyone catch the latest issue of the Catalina Islander?... Peter and Donna Sharpe and their dog, "Darwin" along with five other dogs and their owners are pictured on the front page. Almost didn't recognize Peter as he has a baseball cap on!!! This is the new group of Therapy Dogs in Avalon. Chiquita |
