Ustream is another one that's blocked for me at work courtesy of Uncle Sam. No hummers for me. But I got to watch a vulture and a redtail share a thermal on my walk at lunchtime. They were quite convivial about it and spiraled upwards together for quite a long time. And yesterday I got to see one of the large white egrets enjoy his lunch of garter snake! He was standing in the middle of the iceplant, maybe 20 feet away when I came around the corner. At first I thought he had a lizard until I got a little closer and then I could see that there were no feet and it was 8-10 inches long. He let me stand there and watch as the snake slowly disappeared down his long, snake- shaped throat. Yum! ![]() Welcome to all the newcomers. Lots off eggcitement going on in the nests these days - enjoy!

first results of the crash of the turkish plane are a defect altimeter and that the plane flew at automatic pilot.... but the results are very quickly what experts say.... so there is more research necessary....of course very surprised that that is the reason...a defect altimeter....such a small thing... but it can happen of course so a big warn for pilots etc etc |

Linda - I wish I could photograph all the cool goings on in the lagoons too - but it might cost me my job. Then where would I be? BTW - I went out to the bird photographer's forum the other day but could not find a gallery of photos anywhere. Can you send me a link? |

A suggestion for all of those wonderful pictures taken at Lake Cachuma (sp). Why don't ya'll start a thread under Videos and Pictures to put them all in.....and add to them whenever anyone goes there. The pictures are super and it would be sad if they got buried with time in the chat thread. You don't have to, of course. Just thought you'd like to. |
